I really enjoyed this, can't wait to start the next book. I loved the twisty ending.

This was a great conclusion to Rune and Gideons story.
Even with some of the convenient additions to the plot, the story was still really beautiful. I'm still wondering about Runes SEEing abilities that weren't fully explored. The back and forth between Rune and Gideon had me screaming “come on already!” so often. But when it finally happened it was in the perfect moment.
This duology is amazing and I could see myself rereading it.

This was a cute quick cozy winter read (got bamboozled by the title thinking it was a fall read) that gave me the same feelings as “Legends and Lattes” and “The House in the Cerulean Sea”. The romance is secondary to the rest of the story which I enjoyed. Would recommend for a cold snowy day
Definitely more enjoyable than the first three books but still not really worth reading.
The first 75% was set up for the quest and the last 25% was the quest. It felt so unbalanced. I wish either the set up was shorter or the quest longer. I was really enjoying the story until I realized the ending was going to be completely rushed and unsatisfying. I'm undecided if I'll read the next one because of how disappointing this series has been so far. I'm interested because this entire book felt like a set up for the next one which has me intrigued.
The fact that we got more scenes and banter between Bellanca and Carver than we did with Jo and Flynn was incredibly disappointing. It honestly felt like the author was using this book to get us interested in the next one. I wanted more between the books main couple instead of focusing on the side couple.
Overall, I'm just disappointed in this entire series. I wouldn't recommend it, but if you are interested I say proceed with low expectations.

Honestly, this was entirely wayyy too long.. so many filler scenes that added absolutely NOTHING to the story. The fact that this isn't even the last book made it feel even longer knowing that most of the filler scenes are completely pointless.. I love this series, its definitely a guilty pleasure kind of series.. not the greatest books written but they are just so entertaining, but this one was TOUGH to get through..

This series has gone down hill since the first book. Even then the first book was okay, but they keep progressively getting worse. I've never been so excited to be done with a book so I won't have to ever pick it up again.
Cat's character really went from bad to horrendous. She was strong (enough without knowing the full extent of her powers) and independent throughout the first book. However, after books 2 and 3, she became very needy and constantly needed to be reaffirmed that she was strong and powerful. I also don't understand why she had to become so damn reliant on a man. Instead of making her find confidence in herself and her abilities, the author made her rely heavy upon Griffin telling her she's confident and capable. Her entire personality becomes the words of affirmation from Griffin, instead of her owning her own damn abilities and confidence. She turned so weak and completely unreliable in this third book. I was so upset watching her loose her strength and independence.
Cat and Griffin were a fit couple. However, the constant need for reassurance from Cat made be so completely uninterested in their relationship in the end. Also Cat's inner monologue being constant either about Griffin and how strong he is or about how not strong she is and how she's not good enough. Griffin was okay in this book. If he was on page it was either to protect Cat or reaffirm Cat. He really didn't do much else but be Cats babysitter. I wish we got to see more from him. He's finally in power and we never got to see how he'll rule.
I did love seeing all the side characters start forming relationships. After finding out the next book follows different characters, my interest in the series has been renewed. I hope we get to find out where Kato went. That scene made me so close to DNFing because Kato is my favorite character.
Overall, I don't recommend this series. If you are interested I say buy it one book at a time. I would stopped after book 2 if the rest of the series wasn't gifted to me.

I love Death! He said all the right things to get Signa to realize she isn't as bad as people say. The story was so twisty and had me guessing till the reveal. That ending
1000000 stars ✨ easily became my all time favorite read ever!!! I loved every single page of this book. I will be rereading this for the rest of my life
I was utterly bored while reading this so by the time the reveal happened I was completely uninterested. I'm really disappointed that I didn't like this one because the format being in audio transcriptions is really fun!
Anyway, I hope my next read from Janice Hallet goes better.
