First I was, like, “Huh?”
Then I was, like, “What the fuck?”
Then I was, like, “Oh no, so tragic!”
Then I was like “... Too much.”
My journey through the book. ⬆️
I didn't like the last third. It was more fucked up than it needed to be to convey the point. But overall it was alright.
That was a very confusing and scary ride! I was really intrigued with all the discussions and thoughts of the characters. And I think I generally got what the book is about. But after watching some YouTube videos (and the Netflix movie) some details became more clearer, too.
I'm not sure what exactly I was feeling while reading/listening, but the book definitely made me feel a lot!

I think this one would've deserved 4 stars as a short story. It's not bad, but not great either.

I've read this book in Swedish, which is not my native language, so I can't really say anything about the writing style. But the fact that I've read this book in just a little more than two weeks in a language I'm not even fluid in and enjoyed it massively speaks for itself.
I'm a little bit unsure about the ending, though. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either.

Great mix of studies and anecdotes! I could relate to tons of situations described in this book. Definitely motivated me to expose myself a bit more to the scary and beautiful thing called human interaction!
Gave up at 50%.
It started well. And then it was just boring.
Seems like 2022 is the year of abandoned books for me. Or, rather, the year of shattered hope that I had for these books!

Hm, this book is not really doing anything for me. And all the things I don't like so much at this point seem to be very commonly addressed by other people. It's pretty slow, I don't really feel a lot for the main characters (the female characters all seem kinda bitchy, manipulative and especially boring) ... One day I might give this series another try, but I say that about most books that I “paused.”
Precise rating: 4.5 ⭐
This book was absolutely brilliant! I can't get over how much I actually liked every single story. But “Story of Your Life” and “Liking What You See: A Documentary” were definitely the highlights!

Read it to my boyfriend over Discord, we both enjoyed it a lot and had a nice discussion about it afterwards!
In the middle it got a little boring. Also, I'm not a big fan of Kidd's writing style, it's a little bit too weird for my taste. But mostly I was entertained.
Gave up at 13%.
Wasn't for me. I wonder if I have been unlucky with picking books this year or if I just feel more comfortable with DNFing books now

Rowling could write thousands of pages about the characters from the Harry Potter books and I would buy that book without hesitation.
Gave up at 22%.
Despite the many fancy words, I liked Nabokov's writing. It's pretty interesting how he manages to make Humbert seem so civilised, considering, well, the story of this book.
Rita Skeeter (especially in the audiobook) was undisputably the highlight and pushed this book up to four stars!
