This was a fun and surprising read. The main character, Murderbot, is a robot-human hybrid and is so interesting and well drawn. I was fascinated from the start. Since this is a novella, the story just scratches the surface, but at the same time felt like a complete unit. I am so happy there are more stories in this series.
Meh...I really wanted to love this book. I was fascinated by the concept of the female protagonist being connected to the land but was disappointed in the story overall. The characters were not fleshed out and the story, even though it moved quickly, didn't really capture my interest. 2.5 stars

This was a very enjoyable read. The characters and plot were interesting and there were a couple of unexpected twists along the way. At times I felt like I was reading a memoir filled with emotion and heart. Highly recommend the audiobook!
I enjoyed this book but really wanted more from the main characters and a stronger, more complex and well developed story. Recommend for lovers of this series primarily for nostalgia purposes.
I loved this creepy, atmospheric book from page one. The story about the circumstances surrounding the death of Lizzie Borden's father and stepmother was told in such a compelling way that I didn't want to stop reading. Schmidt is a master of descriptive writing. Highly recommend for lovers of literary fiction.
I started listening to the audiobook and dnf'ed it at about 20%. Just not a book for me.
I was very excited to dig into this mystery and was hoping for lots of twists and turns with such a promising title and premise. Meh...it ended up being just okay. It was a fast read and held my interest but the characters were one dimensional and the story wasn't as dark and twisty as I had hoped. Mystery lovers with expectations in check may want to give it a try.

This was an enjoyable mystery read. The characters were well developed and I especially liked the complex and flawed Private Investigator, Roxane. The plot was well crafted and had me guessing until the end. Would recommend to readers who like fast paced, plot driven mysteries.
This was an ok, 3 star read for me. The premise was interesting and the potential was there for a great story. Ultimately, however, the plot was weak and the characters were never really fully developed.

Okay mystery/thriller. I enjoyed the female protagonist and her coming from the perspective of a journalist rather than a profession in law enforcement which is typical of this genre. Nothing spectacular, but a quick, fun read for the mystery book lover.

3.5 stars. I really enjoyed this fast-paced, mystery thriller. The characters and storyline were engaging and it had a satisfying ending. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy this genre.
I wasn't sure what to expect when going into this graphic novel, but was pleasantly surprised. The story of what happened to Paul Dini told in graphic form just seemed to work on many different levels. Art was great. Highly recommend reading if you are at all interested in graphic memoirs.
I enjoyed this story about a woman's survival after the apocalypse wipes out most of humanity. The book moved along at a nice pace and I enjoyed the combination of the narrative voice mixed with journal writing. Would recommend to readers who like apocalyptic stories.
I enjoyed all three novellas. The main character, Letty, though in some ways unlikeable, grew on me as the stories progressed. I also liked the plot twist in the last story. Commentary by the author concerning the development of the television show was a surprise bonus.

I have mixed feelings about this book. It was very well written and focused on character development which is what I love about literary fiction. I was intrigued by the concept of how these children's lives would unfold after being told their “death date.” The stories of each life were unexpected, which was a plus. I did also enjoy the questions that were raised about life, quality of life, fear, relationships and the purpose and meaning of life. Thus, I guess my only complaint is that the story was slow moving and not quite as compelling as I had expected it would be. Highly recommended for literary fiction lovers.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it. Now I am going to go back and read the annotated edition to pick up on aspects of the story that I might have missed. I highly recommend this book to readers who are interested in a unique fantasy story that incorporates mythology and philosophical themes.
The synopsis of this book intrigued me. Was this woman who returned home really the daughter that disappeared eight years earlier? I wanted to love this book but it ended up being a so-so read for me. I found the story to be choppy, never felt a connection to any of the characters and was disappointed when the answer to the basis of the book was revealed. The book is a short, quick read, so if you are intrigued by the premise, give it try.
This was your average mystery thriller. I enjoyed it though it did take a long time for the plot to develop and I didn't care for the ending. If you enjoy mysteries and have some time to kill, give it a shot. Otherwise, you may want to bypass this one.

4.5 stars. This fast paced, post-apocalyptic thriller kept me in suspense and turning the pages. Looking forward to continuing the series!
This fast paced mystery had me hooked from the beginning. The main character was interesting and I was anxious to watch the story unfold. By the end, though, I did wish that the story was more complex and was a little disappointed. Would recommend to mystery lovers, but keep your expectations in check.

I was curious about what the dying have to say and teach me about life. The author is a hospice chaplain and recounts some of the stories and nuggets of wisdom that she has come across while doing this work. Through reading these stories I found myself reflecting on my own life and enjoyed this experience. Highly recommended for readers interested in a contemplative read.
Another enjoyable installment in the Dublin Murder Squad series. I found this story to be a slow burn and at times wished that it moved at a faster pace. I thought the ending was satisfying, though, so that made it worth it for me. Highly recommend.

I didn't quite love this book as much as the first one in the series. It has interesting characters and I appreciate the themes of acceptance that the author illustrates in her stories.
A fun, page turner filled with adventure. I will be definitely reading more by this author.
