3.5 stars. This book is definitely a page-turner and hooked me from the beginning. My questions were answered at the end, which I was glad to see. If you like mystery and suspense, pick this one up and enjoy the ride.

I had high hopes for this book when reading the description. I DNF'ed it at 55% though because it didn't live up to what I had expected. I initially liked the characters, but there wasn't a lot of character development or interesting relationships developing in the story. The plot had a lot of action and fight scenes, but it just lumbered along and didn't seem to move the story forward. So much potential that just didn't pan out.
I really liked the premise of this book but felt let down in the execution. The characters were one dimensional and the plot sputtered along. I almost DNF'ed it but decided to plow through. The ending was solid and moved it from a two star to a three star read for me. If you enjoy mysteries/thrillers with complexity and character development you may want to pass this one up.

Very creepy read. The interesting characters and my curiosity about what was coming next made this book a quick read. I was a little disappointed in the ending but would recommend to anyone looking for a page-turner! 3.5 Stars

3.5 stars. I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one. The story kept me turning the pages and I enjoyed the multiple points of view. Nothing groundbreaking here, just a fun thriller with lots of twists and turns.
This was an enjoyable, fast-paced story that held my attention from the beginning. It has mystery and romantic elements and is twisty in both those areas. 3.5 star read for me.
I went into this book thinking that it was a mystery/thriller but would classify it more as a contemporary novel. It is well written and has interesting characters and plot line. The best part is the ending which has lots of surprises and twists.
Though I found the story a bit formulaic at times, I did enjoy reading this novel set in Alaska. It was an interesting location and my favorite part of the book. Kristin Hannah is a great storyteller.
The premise of this book was interesting and the story was well executed. I couldn't put it down due to my curiosity as to how Essie would resolve her situation. The ending was abrupt but satisfying.
I was looking forward to reading this novel after really enjoying The Dry last year. I wasn't disappointed. The alternating perspectives and short chapters really kept the story moving and I was anxious to see how everything would unfold as to what actually happened in the wilderness. There was also a lot of interpersonal dynamics among the group of female co-workers, which was also interesting.

I really enjoyed this book. It had an interesting plot and the story moved along at a quick pace. The author tried to tackle a lot in this book, so in some ways, I wish it was longer. I would have liked more character development and would have liked to see some aspects of the story that were glossed over, play out.
This book was recommended to me as a read-a-like for Stephen King's 11-22-63. It did have similar vibes but added a few twists. I found the story of a man reliving his life over and over again fascinating and was so curious as to how the story would end. I found the novel to be well written and well thought out. Highly recommend!
Interesting NDE from a person who was an atheist prior to his experience and became a follower of Jesus and minister afterwards.
This is a long meaty book. In spite of its length, I was never bored and found this to be a propulsive apocalyptic story. If you are politically sensitive, you may have a few quibbles with how characters are drawn and the narrative about why the events were taking place. I was able to overlook this and it didn't bother me. I was expecting a little more at the end, but it did leave me satisfied. It was a solid read overall. I look forward to reading more of this author's books.
This book is a page-turner. The story and characters are interesting and Eskens does a good job at surprising me with unexpected twists. Great ending, too.
This book was a so-so read for me. It was the first Louise Penny novel that I have read and because of that I had no history with the characters or town of Three Pines. That being said, I didn't feel like there was enough character development for me to feel any attachment to the townsfolk. I thought the mystery and plot was okay and enjoyed how the murder trial and drug trade threads ended up coming together. I think that those readers who are already fans of the Armand Gamache books will like this one more than I did.
This was a fun and thoroughly modern story. The characters were diverse and the plot was interesting. Highly recommend to anyone needing an engaging and light read.
A solid read for the second book in a series. There was a lot of progression in the plot and enough of a cliffhanger to make me want to read the third installment.
The author does a good job of using Beartown and the residents' relationship with hockey to demonstrate the inherent messiness of life. Life here, like everywhere, is lived out in shades of gray. This is a character driven novel, so a reader looking for a lot of action might find the story to be slow moving. Recommended for readers who enjoy literary fiction.
3.5 stars. I started off really liking this book and the murder mystery that the protagonist attempts to solve by traveling to the future. The murder investigation falls to the background as the science fiction theme ramps up. The SF aspect ended up being about 75% of the story and this made the plot a little confusing and less enjoyable for me. The story was fast-paced and the writing was good. Recommended for those who are looking for a science fiction read more than a straightforward mystery.

What an enjoyable read! This isn't a perfect book, but it had pretty much everything that I like...quirky and endearing characters, laugh out loud moments, grand themes about life and small quiet moments of authenticity. Would recommend to readers who enjoy character driven stories and literary fiction.
3.5 Stars. This is a fast paced story about a woman who discovers that she is married to a serial killer and her life with her children in the aftermath. This novel will appeal to readers who enjoy mystery and suspense. The book ends with a cliff hanger so I am looking forward to picking up the next installment.
What a great book! It was gripping and emotional from the start. Anyone who wants insight on what it is like to have to flee from a war-torn country will enjoy this story which focuses on three refugee families in varying time periods. I love the way the book highlights our connections with each other regardless of race, country of origin or religion. Highly recommend.
