Listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it. Lots of dry humor but some laugh out loud moments, too.
I enjoyed this creepy young adult horror novel. The premise was unique and compelling. The first 75% moved along at a steady pace with all of the fast-paced action happening in the latter part of the book. The ending was satisfying.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital advance review copy.
I was intrigued with the premise of this book but found that the middle 3/4's of it really dragged. I didn't get the historical puzzle solving expertise from Langdon that I have come to expect from his character. The story plodded along and he seemed to just be there for the ride. There were a few surprises at the end which made me glad that I finished it. Just an okay read overall, though.
I really wanted to enjoy this book. It was an easy read, but the story wasn't compelling. I typically enjoy reading about characters in multiple dimensions of time, but how it was portrayed in this book was not that interesting. Very average read.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the digital ARC.
This book of short stories is what I expected from reading other reviews. The character of the Witcher is intriguing and fun, so I plan to continue the series. I hear it gets better.
This is an enjoyable, well-written book.
I found the plot to be slow at first but was well paced once the action started to pick up.
It contains lots of interesting themes: the violence that people are capable of; man vs. nature; the impact of choices; how a person's past colors his/her world-view.
I wish there was more development of the side characters, but for the length of the book, it is a solid read.
This is a propulsive read that kept me turning the pages. The story had some major plot holes which kept it from being a 5 star read for me.

Another great book by Jane Harper. I enjoyed The Dry and Force of Nature, so I definitely wanted to read this one. I found this book to be a page-turner with interesting family dynamics and a mystery that kept me wondering until the end.
First, let me say that this is a thriller that kept me turning the pages. The story is compelling and drew me in from the start. That being said, much of the plot and actions of the characters seemed to me to be unrealistic. Thus, if you are looking for a tightly woven plot and believability, you might not enjoy this book. If you are willing to just go along for a crazy ride, though, this is an enjoyable read.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for a digital advanced review copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
My expectations were high going into this book and in the end, it didn't wow me. The story felt long and meandering and the main character, Toby, never really grabbed my interest. There were elements of the mystery that I enjoyed and the reveal was satisfying, but much of the book felt like a slog to get through.
I really enjoyed the audio version of this book. The characters and story are interesting and surprising. The writing was crisp and the ending was satisfying. Looking forward to discussing this one with other readers.
This book was a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed the setting, characters and basic plot. I didn't mind the jumping between the three different timelines as they were distinct enough to follow. However, about halfway into the book, I felt that the story became very convoluted and lots of things were happening that didn't really move the story along.
I am enjoying the fleshed-out world and characters and am excited to see what happens in the next book!
I was unsure about this book at the beginning since it seemed to have a slow start. Little did I realize that the author was carefully laying down her story piece by piece and that it would all come together in the end. The main character is smartly written and the story was satisfying in the end. I would recommend to those who enjoy literary fiction and don't mind a plot that develops slowly.
Fascinating read. I am still trying to wrap my mind around how Elizabeth Holmes was able to con so many people. The book goes through the story step by step which did make it feel like it was plodding along at times. Well researched and interesting, though.
I DNF'd this book at 35%. The premise was interesting, but I found that I was not that invested in the story or characters. I may get back to it at some point.
This book was a mixed bag for me. I enjoyed the writing but thought that the story lacked the depth that I was expecting after seeing all of the glowing reviews. It reminded me of a made for tv movie; enjoyable enough, but not the stellar novel I was expecting.
I love the idea of this book and reading about Native Americans. Their mistreatment was succinctly described and formed the basis for the contemporary story that followed. I found the characters and plot interesting, but there was so much going on for such a short book, I never felt like I got invested in the characters. The writing is good, so this may be your cup of tea. It was only a so-so read for me.
Loved this book! One of those stories that has everything...wonderfully written, well paced, interesting setting, compelling characters and a complex and unique plot line. Highly recommend for literary fiction and historical fiction lovers who like a bit of mystery.
An interesting memoir that focuses on the author's experience of growing up in poverty in Brazil, being adopted by a Swedish family and then returning to her birthplace as an adult to find her mother.
I love Sherlock Holmes and mysteries, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. I loved the twists on the original story. Watson and Holmes are both black females and their characters are fleshed out and believable. The story takes place in a dystopian future where the USA is in the midst of another civil war and reflects some of the current political turmoil. The writing was superb as well, so why isn't this a new favorite book? In spite of all of the things that I enjoyed, the actual unfolding of the mystery wasn't that exciting or interesting. In fact, it was kind of dull and the ending involves an overused theme. I didn't find myself surprised and only mildly curious as the story unfolded. I think I was expecting something more clever, intriguing and surprising...some of the aspects I love about the original Sherlock Holmes. I think that Sherlock Holmes fans will enjoy the same aspects of the story that I did, but if a reader is interested in a thrilling mystery, pass this one up.

After reading a string of run of the mill mysteries, this book surprised me. The plot is fresh and I kept turning the pages trying to figure out what was going on. The characters in the book are hard to pin down and psychologically twisty which adds to the fun ride. The ending is satisfying, too.

I was intrigued by the premise of this book and couldn't wait to get my hands on it. The only character to really have any depth was the main protagonist. All of the other characters were one dimensional which took away from the potential of this being a more engaging mystery. The story was suspenseful at times but just seemed to plod along and go nowhere at certain points. I ultimately found the ending to be anti-climactic and a little disappointing so it ended up being an average read for me.

This book had a fantastic beginning and I was very drawn into the story and couldn't wait to see how it would unfold. As it progressed, however, I became less interested in what was happening and was quite disappointed with the ending. The writing was good, but the story seemed repetitive at some points.
