I wanted to read Operation Bounce House by Matt Dinniman because I have seen his other series trending on the Hardcover app and I was curious to read something from this author.
An evil corporation begins a genocide in the name of real estate and profits. The defending civilians are framed as terrorists and forced to violence to defend their homes, friends, and family. The parallels to the genocide of Palestinians are hard to miss. I appreciate that the story clearly defines the victims of the genocide, Oliver and his friends, as the heroes. This was the only thing that I liked about this novel.
I found the action and in-between scenes extremely repetitive. I think the novel was at least 200 pages too long. Additionally, the comedy was shallow crude jokes, mostly referencing sex with animals and dick jokes. The characters were flat and boring. The women characters were poorly written and cliché. They consisted of a sex worker sister, whose sex toys are used as a running joke, and an ex-girlfriend whose main characteristic is that she wanted to be pregnant.
Overall, I do not recommend this novel.
