IM SO HAPPY I READ THIS !!!
the plot twist literally left me catching my damn breath on the floor. I literally GASPED.
and the ending ???? superb. id have cried & punched walls if what happened didn't happen.
the writing was also great, no unnecessary rambling, juste ce qu'il faut, did not feel bored at all.
no but imagine being so smart you create a chef d'œuvre like this ? damn god really has his favorites
i don't like the writing style, like really don't. it sounds really superficial & boring. and i hate books with metaphores in EVERY sentences please it just gets really tedious to read

took me forever to finish, thats how i know a book isnt for me
alice was just too stupid, made too many dumb decisions. like why are putting your life at risk by involving yourself in something that NOTHING to do with you ???? why are you still interacting with a man you've only known for a year & who blatantly lied to you ???? why are you still in the house
this entire book was built on stupidity im sorry, if she was a normal person she'd have just moved out, fin de l'histoire
the plot twist was good tho, which is pissing me off because it would've been an AMAZING book if not for mc's questionable decisions
the dead sister's name being nina does NOT explain her crazy involvement in this shit
2.5
um
i thought i would absolutely love it 3
it definitely started out great but the characters just kept on being annoying & making dumb decisions
i get the guilt of mc but i don't get why she's go this far, why she'd risk her life for someone she barely knows, someone who literally set her up & refused to open her fucking eyes
im also deeply unsatisfied with the ending, i do not give a fuck about richard's trauma, it doesn't excuse what he did. electric chair period
& the plot twists in the last pages were so weird & unnecessary. it gave “im adding a plot twist just to add a plot twist”, absolutely no substance to it
actually most of the plot twists felt like that
Got me feeling all type of emotions, mostly anxiety & left me empty.
Literally don't know how to feel about the ending, there's a hint of sadness, melancholy but a whole lot of nothingness, as if my soul got emptied.
Definitely recommend !
im so disappointed
the novella was boring, the dialogues felt unnatural & the writing pretentious
its so crazy because i LOVED his other book (title is too long but you know which one)
but yeah, i literally finished it out of spite
2.5
that ending ruined everything like c'est beaucoup trop tiré par les cheveux, nothing makes sense
i will give freida props for the writing style tho, she really succeeded to sell the image of the tormented daughter who can't stray apart from her dad's path until the little revelation (i was kind of seeing it coming but still)
but again the whole harper thing is stupid, novelas type of plot twist
not a bad book, really nice premise but badly executed. imagine she was just delusional all along and actually the killer ? much more interesting.
because her 360° from having des tendances psycho/socio to just being a friendly surgeon makes less sense. you know what maybe the author actually did too much of the “serial killer daughter persona” bc im realizing it really makes 0 sense. fallait plus de subtilité
this is a very disheartening dnf because i was soooo hyped about this book
but the writing style is just not for me, too dense too confusing & all over the place
and too many scifi shit going on with no simple explanation
tried to give it a chance but clearly it feels like there's no plot, & the narration style isn't really my cup of tea
very meh, & anne's a dumb bitch
whole thing would've been 200 pages shorter if she just called that damn police officer
also makes 0 sense how margot or wtv he's called got NO sort of punishment for his absolutely careless, selfish and stupid actions
2.5, took forever to finish
Oh well. It was a very disturbing read, with sick (& very delusional) characters and a meh ending.
It was fascinating though to get a look the MC's deeply deranged mind, especially how he thought of himself as the sanest individual in a wicked world (very delusional like i said).
Overall not the best book I read but not horrible either. And once again the ending was quite empty, I needed something more.
dnfed, excruciatingly boring
i get thats the point, to show the contrast between his extremely boring lifestyle & the violence he partakes in with the same lack of emotions but damn this is just painful to read, I DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE BRAND OF EVERY ITEM EVERY CHARACTER OWNS PLEASE
good writing, very intriguing story, SMART mc without veering into the unbelievable, lots of unexpected twists, and a nice background romance. everything made sense n thats pretty rare for a thriller. it was very good !!!!
2.5
there's nothing scary about this, but it was an easy read and i was quite entertained
NVM im not about to read 200+ pages of non-consensual bdsm, i feel bad for her & i hate anne rice

was a nice book, felt really immersive
a lot of morally grey situations that made me ponder a lot about what i would do so j'étais à leur place
basically a good general fiction/sf(ig) book, haven't read one of these in a while & it was a nice experience. you know these books that just make you feel like you're watching a movie ? yeah
liked the way the narration was written too, & how the tone seemed to change selon les personnages
