i dont rate memoirs written by the person themselves
I stan by what Wendy Williams said that one time.
I do this thing where I read the first and last chapter of every book before I read the book and I can mostly predict how it goes. These are usually predictable... Oh but the twists in this one got me good! A win for the ‘Horny Damaged Man' genre. Skipped all the raunchy stuff though. That always bores me. So this is not a real review of the entire book I guess.
As with alot of these ‘sexy romance novels', it was predictable. I knew where the story was going. I knew when new characters were going to be introduced. I knew the effect they were going have on the plot and it's characters. Even saw the ‘plot twist' of the female best friend of the main character being married to a woman coming. The writing was very standard. It was nicely told though.
what the hell happened to this series? it all seemed to fall apart at the end of the 3rd book. i would say, i think this book started strong but the end felt rushed to me. maybe it's because i completely skipped the section after eva's mom died and he simply didn't tell her. i wasn't about to sit here and read through any justification the author was gonna fabricate for that. that's wild. the 4th book was forgettable. this should've been the 4th with the complimenting side stories properly fleshed out.
TW SEXUAL ASSAULT
Yeah I was confused when I started reading this. Alot of the characterization didn't seem to make sense. But I chucked it up to the author taking some storytelling liberties to make a good book. Then it became mildly entertaining. BUT WTF.
There was no need for a rape scene in this book. Wickham was already established as a sleezy, no good gentleman. WTF. WHAT THE HELL. There's also a 2nd implied rape scene and a 28 yo man fondling what might be teenager. Why? Why didn't you just write your own book with original characters? UGH.
I would admit there were some nice moments but they were few and far in between.
I find this book pretty boring compared to the first two and my dislike for Eva grew immensely. Why wasn't the plotline with the rockstar tied up in this book? It made no sense she wanted to still be friends with him! If this was suppose to be the main source of tension in this book, it fell short. It was pretty lackluster. Coupled with the fact that nothing else new really happens... it was a bit of a dud for me.
