i'm pretty meh about it lol
part 2 chapter 9 took me 10 days to read and it was. painful

CW: homophobia, transphobia, sex mention

DISCLAIMER: i couldn't stand to read the whole thing so i skipped some stuff

what i DIDN'T like:
- bad use of the word “queer” (it's more complex than “cis men barebacking each other”)
- an entire chapter dedicated to explaining historical slurs
- the use of the word “sodomy” in reference of male homosexuality
- the general demonization of the lgbt community
- erasure, misgendering and deadnaming of historical transgender figures
- implication that lgbt people are all sex crazy
- “transgenderism and transsexualism”
- implication that transgender people start being such when they start their transition
- “gay pride”
- implication that gay men are women-hating misogynists

what i DID like:
- nothing really lol

some word choices were made

I really can't believe it's over... I want to go back to this world and read more. 😭

this is not a book it's an EXPERIENCE

dnf'd it at 30%. the prose was a bit confusing :/ idk if I'd give it another chance

i read this in preparation for the cruel prince but eh......

it wasn't that bad, but it was boring. it had a interesting premise but it was badly executed
the romance was predictable like from page 1 and felt insta love-y
plus, LGBT characters don't need coming out arcs!! let us exist without justifying our existence!!!

my mistake was getting to love kitay too much

not the best but it kept me entertained and interested. not half bad
