“Soon, the whole world would be searching for her- Linh Cinder. A deformed cyborg with a missing foot. A Lunar with a stolen identity. A mechanic with no one to run to, nowhere to go. But they would be looking for a ghost.”
"She did not know that the wolf was a wicked sort of animal, and she was not afraid of him."
Lemme just say... I MISSED MY BABY THORNE SO MUCH OKAY???? IT'S BEEN FOREVER I JUST ASDFGHJKL.
Anyways, Scarlet is probably my favourite book in the Lunar Chronicles. Cinder is just as badass and awesome as ever. Scarlet and Wolf are one of my OTPs, and that scene where he fights his brother for her?? I stan.
Did I mention that I love Thorne so much? Because I do. I just want to write about Thorne. THORNEEEEE.

2024 Reflection Time: My feelings are so conflicted. It wasn't as awful as I first remembered but it wasn't great either. Dunno. Need time to think. Leaving my original review up for transparency and also because it's iconic as fuck.
2022 Review:
Buddy read with Kayla!
I normally don't rate books that I don't finish but this completely deserves it. This was extremely disappointing. But honestly, I went in expecting something like this.
This book was written by two popular sixteen year-old parents-are-Republican preppy-cheerleader-type girls and you can't convince me otherwise. I think that the authors's goal here was to get me to never say another bad thing about Michael Waldron or Chris Chibnall's writing ever again (and it nearly worked). It's cringy, it's poorly-written, and it's a shitty Harry Potter/Winx Club/Victorious fanfiction. With typos and grammatical errors galore, I completely understand why this was self-published. If I was a publisher and was offered this, I would laugh in their faces and kick their asses to the curb. This read like something I would find in the depths of thirteen year-old me's Wattpad library. It literally has me wondering how this series is so popular.
I have been told by many (including my bookish group chat friends who have been pestering me to read this for weeks) that this series gets better in later books. However, I would rather stab myself multiple times than force myself to read any more of this. Honestly I wanted to get a bit further in this book since it was my first buddy read but I just couldn't continue torturing myself. Sorry to my friends who like toxic aLpHa males but I'm done. I'm so fucking done. Cope.
And the true queen of Solaria is my girl Stella thank you very much.
TL;DR this one should've stayed in the Wattpad drafts besties.

Edit: I found this on YouTube and it's my new favorite video on the internet. <3
I believe it's safe to say that Hollowpox: The Hunt For Morrigan Crow is definitely my favorite in the series thus far! Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban meets Alice In Wonderland in the third Morrigan Crow novel.
Wunimals (not to be confused with unimals) are beginning to act strange in Nevermoor. With erratic behavior and glowing green eyes, the Hollowpox becomes a Wunimal pandemic in itself (which we understand all too well, the past few years considered).
Aside from that, Morrigan has finally been moved to the School of Wunderous Arts- where every Wundersmith before her has learned and trained. With the help of Conall, Sofia, and the Headmistress Rook, Morrigan finally begins to hone her skills.
After a visit to the Wintersea Republic on the Gossamer Line, Morrigan finds out that the president has the cure for Hollowpox. Managing to arrange a meeting between the diplomats of the Wintersea Republic and the Free State, she realizes just too late that it was a trick- and she will be forced to turn to the most unlikely of allies for help.
(If you can't tell, I'm mainly writing these summaries for myself so I don't forget anything between now and Silverborn lmao)
This was the darkest novel in the Morrigan Crow series so far (yet still family friendly), and I'm so excited to see where Jessica Townsend takes us next!

Crave is... not great. It's an overly-drawn out young adult series opener, all of its major plot points were easily predictable, and it's a borderline spoof of Twilight— if the cover doesn't spoil you for that right off the bat.
BUT. It's enjoyable and entertaining and I think this could be one of my new guilty pleasure series, in the vein (no pun intended) of The Selection, Shatter Me, Ice Planet Barbarians, so on and so forth. The Percy Jackson-esque chapter titles were one of the highlights of this book, and I found myself unable to put this down at times. My ratings reflect my personal enjoyment over the actual quality of a book, and this one was entertaining as hell.
I think I read the wedding scene maybe five times? I lost count. It was so beautiful and romantic. This is my favorite book in the series by far (and I want my own Daemon).
I have received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book through a giveaway hosted by the publisher. This has not affected my rating in any way.
Trigger Warnings: Incest, self-harm, rape of a minor, underage drug usage, graphic underage sex scenes, child and revenge p0rnography.
This is what Anna K. should've started with.
Don't get me wrong, this book was somewhat enjoyable. Maybe someone who has actually read Anna Karenina (or at least watched the movie) would've enjoyed this more than me. Maybe all of the things I listed above actually happen in Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, but if it is I think it's fucked up for the author to include these things in a novel published in 2020 for God's sake.
Let me get the most upsetting thing out of the way. The author wrote a whole page about Vronsky's “sexual awakening” being an adult woman raping him after a party when he was 13. Then it's never brought up again. Like it never happened.
HELLO JENNY LEE, you cannot casually write a whole page about a minor being RAPED and then move on for the ENTIRE BOOK. What the FUCK.
Second thing I need to talk about: the sheer amount of incestuous shit that goes on in this book with Vronsky's family. First, he shamelessly watches his brother have sex with a woman. Then his cousin Bea is all into him and wants him sexually?? Like what the fuck is wrong with this family???? I don't know if this happens in the original book, but once again, IT'S 2020. THIS NASTY SHIT COULD'VE BEEN LEFT OUT.
Kimmie's self-harming scenes hurt a whole lot. She needed help and her parents were too prideful to give her what she needed the most?? Like come on, rich people! And don't get me started on the obscene amount of sex and cheating and drugs going on with these kids. Is that all rich people do?? Trust me, I wouldn't know.
Lastly, the UNDERAGE revenge porn. FUCK ELEANOR. God bless America, these sorry kids.
Now, why did I give this book two stars instead of one? Partly because this book kept me interested enough to the end. Another part, I liked Dustin and Kimmie's love story. Anna and Vronsky, or Steven and Lolly, not so much. Though, I felt for Anna when Vronsky died. I know what it feels like to lose someone you love, so I understood what she was feeling.
Call me a prude or whatever. If all of the bullshit had been left out, retelling or not, this would've been a much more enjoyable story.
aight imma blame 2020 for making me take almost a YEAR to finish this. i mean, it took me from march 2020 to december 2020 to read the first 50%, but on the first day of 2021 i finish the remaining 50%?????? america explain????!?!??!??
also what in the fucking hel-

Every time I see this in my Kindle app, I literally dread the thought of opening it up and continuing to read it again. It's so boring, too overly-drawn out, and Fable keeps giving me secondhand embarrassment. HOWEVER. I do want to give this another try at some point.
It's 3 AM. I have a bad habit with staying up too late reading the Shatter Me series. This broke me.
2024 Reflection Time: Now that I'm older, wiser (maybe), and have read way worse things than this, I don't think this is as bad as plenty of other books out there. Yes, it's trashy, but it's entertaining trash and that's what matters to me. I know I said I wouldn't be reading the following books but my interest has been reignited I miss Nina my beloved (and I will still probably be skimming Daphne's chapters). Gonna leave my original review up because it's iconic as fuck bye.
2022 Review:
Take all of the shitty people from the British royal family (aka anyone but Diana and Meghan) and make them American. Now add a dash of Gossip Girl (which I hate), a pinch of The Bachelorette (which I also hate), a hint of The Selection, and a few splashes of Dance Moms-level drama. Don't forget to toss in a few pick-me girls (except for you, Nina Gonzalez). That is the recipe for American Royals.
Now if this sounds good to you, that's great! I'm happy for you and hope you enjoy this. But to me, this sounds like a load of flaming garbage and I wish I had known this before buying a box of cereal for it. So I hope Nina Gonzalez is doing well in the next books, because I'm not reading them.
(And just as a warning, Daphne Deighton is one of the most disgusting, vile, and self-absorbed characters I've ever had the displeasure of reading about, so if you do decide to read this make sure to skip her chapters.)
No but genuinely, someone tell me what happens to Nina in the next books. I don't care about spoilers and I need to know.
But also I kinda had fun with it and I may read book two if I'm ever in the mood to read some flaming hot dramatic garbage a la The Selection lmao
TL;DR: Concept was cool, execution was shit.

Pre-Reading Updates: i heard this is trashy like trashier than the selection ooo i'm like 99% sure i'm gonna hate this lmao
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!! VICTORIA SCHWAB HOW DARE YOU?? I LITERALLY FEEL LIKE I'M GOING TO CRY AS I TYPE THIS.
Everything I Need To Say:
- Lila is still my favorite little thief.
Got this as a birthday present a few years ago. I was very bored with this and found it quite pointless.
this?? was so much better??? than i remember????
last time i read this was when i was about 10 to 12 years old (and it was after i read chamber of secrets cuz i was a dumb kid). i'm twenty now. this was like a first time read for me because everything that i remembered from this book either wasn't there or wrong??? i only remembered the characters and vaguely the beginning scenes from the opening to the sorting hat. everything else felt brand new to me.
anyways ayo where my fellow slytherins at
Pre-Reading Updates:
