I was convinced this was going to be 5 stars for about 80% of the book but the ending was a bit of a disappointment for me.

Outstanding character work though.

Meh.

I thought I was going to be a massive fan of this one since I'm a significant fan of Mafia/crime fiction and non-fiction, but this didn't do it for me at all, unfortunately.

I don't know why but I really want to get into this series, so I will continue with this, but honestly I thought this was very poor.

I didn't enjoy this one quite as much as Ship of Magic but still, another excellent addition to the series.

As an almost 30-year-old who also grew up in Lanarkshire at the same time depicted in this novel, and ran about with this type of crowd during my school years, I can???t put into words how emotionally invested I was in this book.

I???m sure many who read this will find it difficult not to draw comparisons to their own youth spent in their scheme.

Since finishing, I can???t help but think of all the unsavoury faces from back then and hope that they???re doing well.
