I really liked this book. I enjoyed the secret organization trope used, O'Malley did a good job with it. The amnesia angle took a bit to get into because I was afraid it was going to get too old or too trite, but the focus wasn't really on that. I had thought I had figured the book out a few times only to be surprised with twists and turns. I recommend this to anyone who likes a good supernatural novel and wants to shake things up with a secret government agency with strange titles. My only problem is that I could never get in the habit of saying/thinking to pronounce the main character's name the way she pronounces it. I couldn't make Myfanwy rhyme with Tiffany.
An interesting way to tell a coming-of-age/coming-out story. I'm not sure I liked how it was treated and the ending left me wanting way more than it gave me. BUT it's worth reading, especially if you're a questioning or queer youth.
I liked the few stories with LGBT characters. They weren't de-sexed secondary characters nor were they full of stereotypical crap. My favorite was “Love Will Tear Us Apart” by Alaya Dawn Johnson, I liked the use of song titles and love of music as a uniting force between the two characters and that the main character was a “zombie” with what seemed to be a fluid sexuality that didn't fit into a heteronormative world. It was like Juno mixed with a zombie flick mixed with From Dusk Til Dawn.
What a fantastic take on haunted house tropes! I loved the story and the way it was told. Very glad I picked this up. 10/10 would recommend
