Lemmed/DNFed at ~45%. The ideas are interesting, if somewhat grim, but I just couldn't get into the plots or the characters.
Too much plot armor—to the point where every character who dies is then immediately resurrected. Too long.
I liked it and will definitely read the next one, but the book doesn't live up to the hype. The characters are a little too stagnant, and the plot a little too thin. It gave [b:The Magicians 6101718 The Magicians (The Magicians, #1) Lev Grossman https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1313772941l/6101718.SY75.jpg 6278977] vibes, but none of the characters were likeable or relatable.
Finally, a good gay romcom. It's cheesy and cliche, but—what can I say—I really enjoyed it.
I don't have much to say as this is, well, Harry Potter. This has always been my favorite book in the series. The audiobook was a delight!
A great short story collection, especially for Vonnegut fans. My favorites: “Welcome to the monkey house”, “More stately mansions”, “Report on the Barnhouse Effect”, “The euphio question”, “The manned missiles”, and “Epicac”.
Miserable people acting miserably towards one another. I think I just needed there to be something redeeming in the book.
Not a bad book, just not my cup of tea. It was more alt-historical fiction than I realized going in, and had very little fantasy. Somewhat boring in the middle.
I hated this book, enough that I decided not to finish it. I made it about halfway. The main character, who is also the narrator, is a chauvinistic pig. The obnoxious descriptions of women's physical attributes—and as far the book is concerned, those are apparently their only attributes—became nauseating and unbearable. There was nothing redeeming in the plot. I'm very glad that Audible allows returning a book.
