See allAwesome and enormous book. Good to know a bit of orbital mechanics before starting it, cause it plays a big role.
First part of the book is great (really great). The historical setting of Cultural Revolution was a refresher for a “Westernised” reader as me. Science and maths topics were also fair (with one exception, but I'll leave it out. Spoilers...).
Second half of this book is a bit of a let down (4 stars instead of 5) since the author tells too much instead of showing.
I'd recommend it to people who enjoy Neal Stephenson; they are similar in epicness and science themes.
Too long... Read in Polish. Whole book could be shortened to any one of it's chapters.
I didn't care for or know much about the times shown in the book. I watched movie before reading, maybe this made the book more accessible.
It's written in beautiful, poignant English. This and potential for quotes are IMHO the best thing about this book.
Recommended for those learning English as a foreign language :)
