Certainly by the end of the book I really liked it. I find this book a hard one to recommend. A lot of what happens to Amy could be very hard for readers to get through. I could see many of the scenes triggering very strong emotions. I was shocked and disgusted by some of the scenes and I did come close to putting the book aside. I did continue on and in the end I'm glad I did. This is a well written story though much of the subject matter will not be for everyone.
If you have been reading the novels as well you'll like this
I like the interaction between Peter and Sahra. It is both slightly comical and professional. There is no indication of attraction between them which I'm thankful for.
Definitely better than vol 1
I really liked this story. Excellent with many of the main characters making appearances. The story leaves you wanting more. Love the “Tales from the Folly”.
Once you get over the heavily borrowed aspects from Jim Butchers Dresden Files it is a good story. The New York from this universe is not meant to be the New York we know while the Chicago in the Dresden Files is suppose to be our Chicago. I hope that as the series progresses that the character differentiates himself more. This is the first book and we are only getting to know the characters.
It was a quick read. It was mostly enjoyable but I don't really care about the main character. The main character is suppose to be hundreds if not thousands of years old but he acts like he is a teenager. For the most part you'd never guess that he has so much experience. This is the first book in a series and I'm hoping that the main character develops over the next books. Overall I enjoyed this book but I give it 3 stars (really 3.5 but you can't do that) and not 4 or 5 because of the main character and the somewhat unoriginal plot/ characters. I'm hoping for better in the future books.
This is ok but not quite as good as the novels
I like the one page “Tales from the Folly” stories. They are fun. The main story is good but it is basically a short story. The depth of the story just isn't there like the novels. The art is excellent.
Best one yet
This one is all about Peter. I know all the stories are but this one is more about him. You feel for him and can understand the pain he feels after being betrayed. His relationship with Beverly has blossomed. The story has just the right amount of romance. Not much time is spent on it but enough that informs you of his and others thinking.
It's getting interesting
Peter while not especially gifted magically is very clever. His magic skills are progressing like you'd expect of an apprentice.
Excellent stories
Kate Richardson doesn't disappoint. If you've read and enjoyed any of her work you will enjoy this compilation. It has a bit of everything.
This is the third and final book of The House Witch series. In reality all three books could have been a single volume (if this was Sanderson it would be). This is among the best books I've read recently. I rarely come across a book that can make me experience so many emotions. I found myself smiling and even laughing out loud. I felt sadness and had tears flowing a number of times. I experienced worry, fear, wonder, stress, and hope. Everyone may not experience what I did in this series but I will say that even if you shy away from “romance” like stories you should give this one a try. Yes there is romance but it is kinda in the background. It's hard to describe but I wouldn't describe this whole story as a romance though it is obviously a theme throughout the series. I'm really having a hard time putting into words (without spoiling) how much I loved this series.
Excellent story. The story builds an ominous atmosphere as our main character deals with issues on the generational ship traveling between star systems. While she, as the first mate, attempts to deal with one issue after another from riots to ship damage and failure, her father, the captain, has locked himself in his cabin. When a murder is discovered but not by anyone of the crew the mood and fear really accelerates. This is an excellent story and I look forward to reading more from this author.
The beginning of a strong series
I've read everything that Steve McHugh has published. I'm never disappointed. They are generally easy and quick reads with the story going from action to action in a nearly unstoppable way. In a way Lucas is a super hero. Not unbeatable like superman but more like Batman and gets his ass handed to him on occasion.
