When Long goes to dragon school, one of the first things they are learning is cooking. Most dragons can breathe fire, but Long only breathes water. He is worried that he is going to fail this part of the school, due to not being able to cook with fire. But he, and the class, are in for a surprise.
Cute story! While we are all unique, we all bring something different to the table, (no pun intended), and add value wherever we are. Loved this!
After the first book, there is a new mission - helping others to rid their homes of ghosts as well. However, this case is going to be a bit different than most, and could cost all of them their lives.
Great read! I enjoyed it, although the bonus chapters at the end added a little clarity to some of the information at the beginning. Great for a shiver!
This was an interesting read, told from the perspective of a young lady, who has family at Wounded Knee.
I didn't know much of this area of history, but the book kept me interested, and it is one that I will recommend others to read as well.
These books are a great way to share history with younger readers, and keep them interested as well. Sharing from a story-type setting allows for younger readers to connect more with the characters.
When Raccoon's house burns down, all the woodland friends wonder how they can help. As they go to their homes, they ponder the predicament, and what they can do.
Each friend offers something small, a bit of kindness, which means more than anything.
This was a super cute read, and I really enjoyed the storyline.
Nubia has often been overshadowed by their powerful neighbors. However, they were a powerhouse in their own right. As they shared a border with Egypt, they were often intermingled with the Egyptian people, but they had a vibrant and rich culture of their own, and left evidence of a rich, and cultured civilization.
Schellinger has done a fabulous job in fleshing out the Nubian culture, tying some of it back to Egyptian influences, and drawing it back.
Great read!
Book two of this series did not disappoint! I loved the first book, and the second was just as good.
Marcus and Alex have been doing their best to stay alive, battling the ghosts as needed in the village. However, their dynamic is about to change, as a new home with a new ghostly resident is moved in, and a newly married couple is abducted and held for the new ghost.
With a few twists and turns thrown in, this was a great read!
Shane Ryan has been sent a rather odd invitation, and he is determined to figure out what it is, and where it came from. However, upon investigating, he finds himself entering a dangerous world, one where the only way to get out, is to be the last one alive...
What an amazing book! I thoroughly enjoyed this read! The narrator did a fabulous job, and the content held my attention throughout.
Horror fans, you will LOVE this one!
Adorable little story! I enjoyed reading through this one and look forward to sharing it with my kids!
Get ready for the original Game of Thrones! Martin J, Dougherty brings a fascinating view of the Wars of the Roses. You get to see the major players, and the causes of the war. It would not be complete without a king who was unable to rule his own country, a queen who attempted to take over, and unhappy nobles.
Absolutely LOVED this book. Anything with the Wars of the Roses fascinates me, and Dougherty's book does not disappoint! Grab a copy!
The murder of a young woman, found nude on the beach, begins one of the most complex, and intense investigations that San Diego had dealt with.
Fritzie Mann, a vivacious dancer, was found on the beach by a young boy. After alerting his father, who flagged someone down to alert the police, another person had to take a look before phoning authorities (cause lookie-loos are in abundance). Once the investigation got underway, there were problems from the start.
Many witnesses were unreliable, unsure of what they had seen, while others did not want to get involved. The police used many questionable tactics, including intimidation to get the information they wanted, not necessarily the correct information. While the family wanted justice, the police department just wanted a conviction. As the main players came into focus, it narrowed down to two main suspects, and there was not a very strong case against either. What was to follow during the investigation, the trial, and the subsequent questions leave a case today that still has lingering questions.
This was a fabulous read! The book goes through the different aspects of the case, the complexities, hidden players, dubious evidence, and so much more. James Stewart lays out the case and the story of the main suspects, and Fritzie Mann in a way that allows you to connect with them, while drawing more attention to the open ends of the case.
While quite a bit of time has passed since the murder of Fritzie, there are still questions, and questions deserve answers.
True crime lovers - you will enjoy this one! It is a great weekend read!
Overall, I found this very useful. My family likes to hunt, but I am always looking for ways to create meals around the meat that we bring into the freezer. We get tired of eating it the same way all the time.
These recipes are easy to follow, and not to difficult. Anyone can follow and share these with ease.
Delicious and tasty!
The story of the Haunted Village continues, and a new ghost has moved in. This time, Marcus and his group must weigh the odds of their survival against the newest member brought in, and determine whether they can save her or not.
Great read, and I love that these shorts allow me to get through a book in one sitting. I cannot wait to dive into the next book!
The sanitarium at Middlebury is holding some long, dark secrets. Brian is determined to figure out what is going on, and after an initial walk around uncovers some disturbing residents - the kind that are not alive - not anymore.
As Brian investigates further, he uncovers even more of the haunted past, and those tied to the sanitarium. Now, he hopes to make it out alive.
Do you love historical fiction? Agincourt, 1415 is one that you need to read! This book brought this section of the Hundred Years War to a more vivid and amazing read. I was sucked into this book, and could not put it down!

Agincourt, 1415 Goodreads Review
On October 25, 1415, a trapped and vastly outnumbered force of exhausted and demoralized English archers and men-at-arms faced a colossal army of French knights on a desolate field in northern France. What took place that day became one of the greatest moments of the Hundred Years' War and English history.
Based on chronicles of the times, Agincourt 1415: Field of Blood is a dramatic, minute-by-minute retelling of the battle as seen through the eyes of the commanders and soldiers on both sides. This is a brutal, bloody, and captivating retelling of a major British victory written by a Pulitzer Prize finalist. This work sets a new standard for historical fiction.
My Review:
Well, first off - as I said above, if you enjoy historical fiction, then you will enjoy this book. The characters of Thomas and Sir John really bring the history to life and allow you to enjoy the history in a way that will resonate with more readers. It was broken down into easy to read sections, and there was no place in the book that I ever felt lost. The way this history flowed off the page, made me feel as though I was there, guiding and delighting readers with each page. The writer was able to tackle this book with confidence, which was refreshing! I didn't feel as though he was fumbling with the information.
I enjoyed the human nature that was put into this book - the descriptions of the battle craze that was going on, and the frustrations felt by both armies. It was one of those books that drew you in, and ran you through some emotions as well. I found myself angered a few times (but you will have to read for yourself to find out why), and sadness for many of those who lost their lives that day.
If you are looking for a fabulous historical fiction read, then you have to grab this one! Medieval history has never read so well!
This was a super cute little read! I loved reading through this, and the illustrations were gorgeous!
This is a pretty heavy subject, and so it took some time to read through this one. I can't say this is one of my favorite's by this author (absolutely LOVED Starvation Heights), but the subject matter is insane.
The characters, well, I could not like them - any of them! But overall, it was an okay read. One of those, I read it, and won't read it again books.
3.5 stars
This was great! I loved how each month was broken down, giving an idea of what was happening, the animals, and their habits.
Intellectual, and yet, very easy to follow. This was a perfect, and fun way to learn about life in the polar region!
Marcus, Alex, and Joyce are aware of two younger boys brought into the village, and are determined to rescue them. However, Worthe has upped the stakes, and made it harder for the trio to help the young boys.
They are still determined to escape the village, but they are finding it to be more difficult than they first thought.
This was a good read, although, as a mother, it was difficult at times. Overall, still loved it. Ron Ripley is one of my favorite authors.
What is a kid to to do when your dad sleepwalks? Jason finds his father in many peculiar places throughout the night, and he is always yelling at his dad to go back to bed.
One night though, he finds his dad outside, sleeping against a tree, in the bitter cold. He drags him inside and comes up with a genius way of keeping him indoors!
What a cute little story! I enjoyed reading through this one, and the fun little games at the end are a huge bonus!
Perfect for younger readers, with a fun draw to keep you engaged!
Absolutely LOVED this! I was hooked from the start, and could not put it down. There were so many different cases and theories presented, as well as the updates from the cases. Some of the cases are a bit hard on the stomach, so don't read or listen to this book while eating if you get queasy easily, but overall it was fabulous.
Highly recommended to anyone that enjoys true crime!
Brian is ready to be finished with the ghost business once and for all, but it is not done with him. As he starts a new job, the dead hunt him down. One in particular wants to kill him and his wife.
Brian must not only save his wife but another person who has been trapped in the crypt for many years. Time is running out, and the dead are hungry...
As I started reading this book, it was a bit different than what I was expecting, as I chose it on the title alone, but I did find that I really enjoyed the book.
Looking at the different cases of human sacrifice, in the modern world, but fascinating. It was interesting to learn a bit more about the different religions still using human sacrifices, and some of the lengths they will go to.
Good read! Very informative.
This book was interesting and full of tidbits, stories, and insights into different crimes that have happened.
I enjoyed reading through this book! Highly recommend if you enjoy some true crime.
Death in Glacier National Park: Stories of Accidents and Foolhardiness in the Crown of the Continent
I enjoyed reading through this book! It is always interesting to hear about some of the accidents, get the tips on what not to do, and explore a different side to the national parks.
Highly recommend this one! I enjoyed it!
The saga of the haunted village continues, with a surprising new inhabitant - and the discovery of some powers that one holds. As the “experiment” continues, the dynamics are about to shift, and Mr. Worthe might find that his theory was all wrong from the beginning...
Great read! I absolutely LOVED this book! Now onto the next...
