The sinking of the Titanic was one of the most horrific losses of life, with over 1500 dead. The giant luxury liner was touted to be unsinkable, but went down on its maiden voyage, the vessel struck an iceberg, ripping a gash down the side of the ship that was beyond anything that the designers could have imagined, and it led to catastrophic results.
In Ship Of Dream,s, Gareth Russel takes us into the lives of six of the more celebrity figures on the Titanic, and the aftermath of the sinking. It was something that would change their lives, and many others in such a short time. For the ones who survived, it would stick with them for the rest of their days, marking each year that passed.
This was a book that was hard to put down! I was drawn into the stories of these families, and the heartbreak that was so prevalent on that night. For one family, they chose to stay together rather than be separated, resulting in loss of life for all.
This book is a MUST read for anyone who enjoys history on the Titanic, or history in general! Well thought out, masterfully written, and a winner all around!
Dreama longs for life outside of the castle, but she is not fully aware of the dangers that lurk outside the walls. As she befriends a young village boy, she convinces him to help her sneak out and away from the castle so that she can visit the spot where he picked some flowers for her.
However, she is about to discover that not everyone is kind, and what she took as punishment was, in actuality, for her own protection.
This was a cute little story! I enjoyed reading it immensely!
Morganna is the daughter of a notorious pirate - only she doesn't know that. All she knows is the brutal step-father that her mother married, and the end of his fists.
As she sets off on a journey to find her real father, after her mother tells her the truth, she sets out on an adventure she never thought possible. She makes new friends and discovers more about herself, and her father in the process.
I enjoyed this book. It was a fun read! Great for a quick afternoon read, or lazy Saturday afternoon!
Absolutely loved this book. It was amazing, and a great look into the war, the men behind it, and the actions that drove them.
100% recommended!
Absolutely LOVED this book! I read it out loud with my son, and he enjoyed it as well. Great history, well written, and one of those books that will have your kids asking questions and wanting to learn more!
This book was fun, but, on the same token - I honestly felt that it lacked something. It didn't grab me and keep me. I walked away from this one several times before finally completing it, and each time I felt as though there was just something flat about the entire book. It had some brutal honesty inside, but I felt as though there was a lot of fluff as well.
I know that no one reads the same book twice, and I hope that those who do read this book love it!
This was an enjoyable read! I was drawn into the story, and it was hard to put this book down! Definitely recommend it!
Longer review coming later on my blog.
I read through the stories in Alien Encounter, and while some were interesting, there just was not enough to hold my interest. I felt as though the author was stretching, sometimes trying to figure out as he was writing, the best way to move the story forward.
Interesting read, but not one of my favorites!
This was an interesting and moving story. I had a hard time wanting to put the book down, but felt at times that I needed to walk away before continuing.
While the majority of the read was enjoyable, there were a few places where I felt it just bogged a little, but then would slide back in and start fresh.
What a super cute little book! I enjoyed reading it, and I think my boys are going to enjoy it as well! It helps that it is set around Christmas, which is one of my favorite holidays.
This would be a great book for kids who enjoy reading!
The Friday Edition was a really interesting read. At first, you are going to hate the main character, as there is nothing redeeming about her. She is an alcoholic, divorced, forgetting about her child at times, and completely wallowing in self-pity. When her sister is murdered, her perfect sister, she is not sure what to think. Many seem to think it was suicide, but Samantha knows better. Her sister might have been down at times, but this was not the time of year that she would consider killing herself, let alone in the way that it was done.
I think the book was very well written, and it made you want to turn the pages faster to see what was going to happen next, getting more information, and yet, not wanting the book to end. Grab it now!
This is a haunting and sad recollection - with the hope and redemption that can come through pain.
This book is not for the faint-hearted. It will break you, tear you to pieces, stomp you to little bits, and then slowly rebuild as you work through the pages.
Worthy read - just keep tissue handy.
These stories only get better as the series continues! I could not put this down! The three stories that are included are among some of the best that those authors have done. Highly recommend if you love horror!
Christmas in America has not always been what we see today. The Night Before Christmas in America takes us back to days gone by to share about the early celebrations.
I enjoyed reading through, although the last few pages of the document were cut off, so I missed the ending. What I got was fabulous though! Great read for kids who enjoy history and Christmas!
If you work freelance, own your own business, or are considering starting your own business - then you have to read this book! It is hands down the best book on the market!
Gabrielle takes each phase of business and breaks it down to an understandable “this is what you need to do to succeed” method. I found myself taking tons of notes, re-reading sections, and going OH! I need to do this!
This book is going to change your mindset, help you get those better paying customers, and move your business from 0-60.
Get the book. It is amazing. Your business (and wallet) will thank you.
This is always a fascinating subject to read on, and this book did not disappoint! Fabulous and well-written! I highly recommend this one to anyone who is interested in history!
I was not sure what to think when I started this book, but I was quickly drawn in, and found that I didn't want to put it down! I finished it in one day! Grab this for the history lover in your life now.
This book is one that will make you cry, it will make you think, and it will make you cringe.
I loved this book! It was one of those thought inspiring books that really brings the horrors of the holocaust from one families perspective. The resilience and survival was amazing. The many different ways that they survive and learn to navigate the system that Germany had put into effect shows the determination that they had to survive and share their story.
If you are looking for a great book to read on a lazy weekend, this is it! I was sucked in and could not put it down. It was absolutely breathtaking!
Well worth the read, and one that will stay with you for a long time!
Elizabeth should have been the queen of Russia, but she was declared illegitimate and the throne passed to her half-nephew. As she works her way through t he intrigue of the Russian court, she finds herself falling in love with Peter, and winning over the hearts of many.
But when Peter dies, everything that she has worked for is thrown into chaos.
A great read! I enjoyed the book, and look forward to more from this author!
The Rise of Gaia is a book that you have to take your time with. While the storyline flows and keeps you engaged, there is more to the narrative than just a story to entertain you. I am going to share my thoughts, and my take on the book. Kristin Ward delivers another book that is profound and thought-provoking.
Stars: 4/5
Review of The Rise of Gaia:
Terran is a normal teenager, at least, until the day she turns 17. On her birthday, she is hit with visions of a dark and horrid world. She cannot get them out of her head. She does not want to confide in her parents, so she confides in her best friend and her mother. As they work to figure out what might be causing the visions that she is seeing, a medium is suggested. After the first visit, Terran wants nothing more to do with him, but the visions continue, and she must find a way to either come to terms with it or discover what she must do to make it stop. Doing that, however, could put her in danger.
My Thoughts:
I did enjoy the book, but I bogged down a little bit on this one. I have loved what Kristin Ward has written in the past, and while I enjoyed this book, it took me a bit longer to get through this one. I found that the characters were relatable, and the underlying issues that she is alluding to were not overreaching, or out of the realm of possibilities. While this is not my favorite of what she has written, it is still a fabulous book. Everyone reads a book differently, and this one has huge potential.
Happy Reading!
