One of the best books ever written. Also, the audiobook is phenomenal. Told without harshness or ugliness but still completely honest and to the point. Sharing vulnerable moments and yet still keeping a privacy. I feel completely uplifted by her once again, as I did when she was still FLOTUS.
It was long but worth it. Many hours to listen and read but, again, worth it.
I firmly believe she has left a legacy as strong as her husband's.
I can read a children's book in a child's mindset. But, I didn't understand the passionate love for this book. The app experience help me up the rating.
This is one of those books where I am glad I read every word but I really only needed to read the intro and conclusion chapters. They say nonfiction is one where you should read the beginning and the endings then see where to delve into deeper, but I always get going from the beginning and don't pull up until the end, if I don't drop it completely. The book gets dull when going over some of its specifics but overall is an academic summary written in common language. More of academia can be written as clearly, I believe. For the future, I only need to reread the conclusion for high level insight. (Special personal note to remember: Inspiration is not the same as dictation. God could have inspired the original authors and the authors and scribes could still be human.)
At couple times a bit too detailed, almost repetitive, overall, it is well-written and every word is utilized and has a purpose. There are no moments of “why was that told?” or “what a waste of a few pages.” The vivid writing made me want pictures but did replace some of the need for pictures.
A book thoroughly chronicling a person's search for identity and world view. Stating many questions and wonders most people have while also presenting clearly the perspective of others. Due to its intelligence and clear language, I enjoyed it.
