This was my first book of this series (my husband bought it without knowing it was a series). It was just such a nice relaxing read. I took my time and enjoyed it with my morning tea.
Ehhhhh
I felt it very confusing in some ways and much telling and not so much showing. It could use some fleshing out.
A great and intriguing read
I loved her writing style. This was a great and informative look into the bee industry. After seeing articles about colony collapse it was very intriguing to read about all the various issues that gives run into and possibilities of what might be causing it.
Other than a few outdated terms (that are a bit offensive today) it held up better over time than I thought it would.
Entertaining, and even though I kinda figured it out I still wanted to know how it would end.
Loved this book, I never read it as a child. The writing and Anne improves as the book goes on. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.
I've enjoyed this audio book (but found out at the end that it was the abridged version). I will eventually read/listen to the full version since I've enjoyed this version and I'm interested to find out what I've missed.
I am a huge Dave Grohl fan, loved Nirvana and the Foos. But while I enjoyed parts of this book, much of it felt shallow, repetitive, and confusing. (Sorry Dave) There was a lot that could have been cropped out and much that could have been expanded on (or at least explained).
I did listen to the whole book even after I figured out the ending, so yes, I am calling the book predictable. I was hoping for a real twist to prove me wrong. The editing could of been much tighter, parts were very repetitive and slogged it down.
First off, this is not my favorite genre. While I gave this book a three, part of me thinks I was being generous (must be the wine I drank). While I loved that she was a bit quirky and I love the travel aspect, the repetitiveness of her drooling over her best friend just totally put me off. I felt she just kept droning on and on about it, I wanted to slap the top of her head and say get a grip!! It could have been a much more interesting book by delving deeper into their travels and adventures, the deepening of their relationship, the finding of her path. Maybe I would've liked it better if we found out in the end that he was gay.
Loved the writing and the characters, but so short and wrapped up so quickly. I will take a look at her other books.
I read it only to see how close to Verity it was. It was very close, but I actually liked it better. But that's not saying much. Both had stupid unbelievable people. And whomever think Montauk is a cheap place to buy a house has done no research whatsoever!
I liked the premise of the book, and then I got about 30% in and could see where it was going. While it didn't end up exactly as I thought (thankfully), it was close enough. I think the author tried to have the book be too many things at once and was intent on utilizing the 1 hour in the future plot device regardless if it worked or not. Thoughts could have deeper, characters could have been more complex, plot line could have been simpler.
This was ok, I didn't hate it. There were moments I actually enjoyed but they were few and far between. For the most part the characters didn't resonate with me and I'm not sure I liked them all that much. The plot was meh, it all wrapped up too easily and quickly in a nice little package.
I enjoyed this family saga. It wasn't exceptional, nothing stood out to me as insight, or particularly funny, or depth, or aha. But it was a nicely told story about a family.
