See allI was actually kind of disappointed with this book. The character sounds the same as Percy in the way he talks. It sort of seems like Percy changed his name to Magnus and was now the son of a Norse god and was dealing with whatever they want. Magnus has side kicks just like Percy does and the plot is pretty similar to the Percy Jackson series. I guess I was hoping for a new character and plot rather than the old standby that Rick Riordan has been doing for years.
This book is incredible! The author does a wonderful job of connecting the Bible and other mundane things of the world together. However, his description of the bible is corrupted and his information on the Knights of Templar are also inaccurate. Had they been truthful I would be more impressed.
I thought the writing style was pretty interesting and new. A lot of nuance there. The teenage angst bit gets a bit wearing though. The overall story arc was also fairly dry until the end, but I found the writing style kept me hooked.
