thrilling and smart, takes the foundation laid in nexus book 1 and turns up the intensity. i really like book 1 but i think 2 is better, sharper, more buttoned up, with thoughtfully inventive tech and characters to manipulate it in interesting ways. super fun to read, feels cinematic in its description and pacing, like you're watching a movie.
really fun read - especially good if you listen to the audio version (because it is read by neil, himself). some of the stories are incredibly entertaining and beautifully described and a few are middling and hard to follow, but overall worth the time. the audio is especially great for a long drive with loved ones.
another reviewer put it best, “reads like just an extended epilogue from book one.” the last third of the book picks up with some interesting developments that get you (maybe?) excited to keep diving into the series. felt like i needed to power through it to get to the end.
