Oh my GOSH
I've never cried so much because of a book before.
This was a beautiful read that EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ!!! It talks about real topics that everyone can relate with at least one poem.
But the last chapter ( IV you) was the one that touched me the most.
I'm going to shut up now, but yes go and get yo self a copy because you won't regret it!
CW: death of a loved one, terminal illness, chronic illness, and complications with pregnancy.
I absolutely loved my time rereading this. I can confidently say that it is a favorite of mine. I love how atmospheric and cozy this book is. Even though this book is told in “short stories” or vignettes following four different characters. Each story bleeds into each other and the characters are still present in the other stories. So you get to see them all develop in their own and the other stories. I really fell in love with this book and the characters all over again.

I really enjoyed my time reading this poetry collection. It's perfect for the times that you need a little bit of encouragement. I loved how inclusive it is to women of color and the queer community. Definitely recommend it to fans of Amanda Lovelace.
THIS BOOK TOOK ALL OF MY THOUGHTS AND FRUSTRATIONS ABOUT THE WHITENESS IN THE CHURCH. AND THEIR BLATANT NEGLECT AND IGNORANCE ABOUT RACIAL ISSUES IN AMERICA. I love this book so much and will be throwing it at everyone around me lol!!!
CW: child marriage, rape, sexual assault, pedophilia, death, miscarriage, and physical violence.
cw: miscarriage, racism, harassment, cheating, child abuse, anxiety, depression, violent sex, fatphobia, fetishizing black women.
protect queenie at all costs
this book is me coded, i won't go into further details. if i did i would need to go to therapy.
CW: body shaming, ED, infidelity, death of parents, and car accident.
This novel gave me two things that I will be forever grateful for, a new book boyfie, and an excellent idea for my 30th birthday.
I came into this book thinking I would be head-over-heels in love with it, especially after loving some of Méndez's backlist works. Sadly, it wasn't. This book had so much potential, but unfortunately, it wanted to tackle so many things at once. I wish that the author would've taken more time to develop the characters and the plot a bit more. Instead of tirando muchas vaina al sancocho sin sazonarlo bien. It tried to juggle too many things at once. So much happened in the last 50 pages that I got whiplash. I never say this, but I wish this book was longer. In doing so, the author could have more time to flesh out some plot points and developments while also discarding things that were unnecessary to the story.
Nadia should've been developed a bit better. The author constantly tells the reader that she's supposed to be some badass lawyer with insecurities for the reader to connect to her. We see all of her insecurities, which is nice. However, we're not shown much of her in lawyer mode. At the end of the story, she makes a 180. In a matter of seconds, she goes from insecure to fearless. Yes, I love that for her, but I wish it had been better developed. She should've grown into her badass era, rather than it happening with no real explanation.
I liked Marcos so much. It was wonderful to see him grow and develop throughout the book. He went from being a man with many regrets who constantly is beating himself up. To a MAN who accepts his flaws and is trying to grow from them. It was beautiful to see him get closure and become someone who doesn't run away from his problems.
Overall, I came into this wanting a fun and cute second-chance romance and came out bored and only finishing it for my man Marcos.
Also, this book read like a YA book with 30-year-olds and I don't know how I feel about that lmao...
OH. MY. GOSH. this book is perfection.. I 10/10 RECOMMEND. I cried the whole time I was reading it. I would probably re read this in the future!!! It's that dang good 👌🏽

“maybe” could just be another word for hope.

This book follows Eden throughout her four years in high school. It starts off from the day she was raped by her brothers best friend Kevin. And it continues on showing how this changes her life from that day on.
Writing: I really liked amber smiths writing. I also liked that she was brave enough to write about a really tough subject and execute it so well.
I do recommend y'all to try to look for a review from a rape victim because it is important.
Plot: I really liked following Eden trough her four years of high school. I thought it was unique and really interesting seeing her development as the years went by.
Characters: I really liked the characters yes they were frustrating at points but I feel like even them being frustrating was important in the development of the story. There were a lot of slut shaming characters and that kinda pissed me off but again I knew that it was important for the storyline. Eden did frustrate me at some parts but then in others I just wanted to hug her and be there for her.
Enjoyment: If you haven't noticed yet, I really enjoyed this book. I cried so much, there's a few pages that have some tear stains.
I do recommend y'all to read it if you're not triggered by the sensitive topics. It's very important and I thank amber for writing such an amazing novel.
DNF at about 30%

I couldn't keep reading this book was way too triggering for me. I felt a lot of anxiety while reading this. the sad part is that i read a few reviews and none had a list of trigger warnings. if i would've known about a few things in this book i would've never picked it up.
One of my favorite books PERIOD!!!!

I'm cryING!!!
I gave tatbilb 4/5 love letters I really enjoyed reading it. Even after watching the film adaptation first. I will say that I loved the movie wAY more than the book. Yes you read right, personally the movie had everything that the book lacked. WHY WAS PETER SUCH A DOUCHE?! Like honestly movie Peter >>>>>>>. Book Lara deserves better. Also while we're talking about movie characters being better than the book character. MOVIE MARGOT AND JOSH > BOOK MARGOT AND JOSH DO NOT @ ME. They annoyed me so much to the point that when they said something I just rolled my eyes. I was like that one vine where the guy goes “oh my God she's always doing something” “ooo what she do?” “She breathed”. Yep that was me with them. ESPECIALLY WITH JOSH OML WHEN HE DID YOU KNOW... THAT YEAH I WAS LIKE BOI!! Let me stop before I throw my phone out of frustration. To end my statement, the movie was better drops mic.
not my fave volume but im kinda hyped to get to the next ones. also can mineta just nOT pleaSE...
Not my favorite volume so far. But I appreciate the bit of backstory we get on toshinori. I think that stain is such an interesting villain with interesting ideals. I wish that horikoshi would've given him more time. But I know that it was all for a greater (or evil-er) purpose. I'm so excited to finally continue the manga. And hopefully catch up before the year ends.
Also as a full tenya iida stan i cried seeing him get so badly hurt..
this was so painful to read. if you don't know iida is my favorite character and i was avoiding reading this volume. i kid you not, i cried multiple times.
