This is my first Dan Brown book. When I read the synopsis, I thought the book would be about the conundrums concealed within Dante Alighieri's Inferno, but I it isn't.
However, my disappointment didn't last long because the story grabbed me from the beginning. I loved the elegance with which Dan Brown writes, employing few bad words and makes no reference to sex scenes, which (I think) makes the book not vulgar. The characters were well written and defined, and it goes without saying about the intrigue and suspense. For a moment, I thought the book would be predictable, but I was surprised when I realized that it wasn't.
Otherwise, I loved the end and the lack of romance. However, I left with a feeling of want to read more ... So for now, this writer has earned my respect, well done Mr. Brown!
This book has been very weird for me . I liked the story, the idea of looking for a Lost Oasis amid Zahara , persecution between “the good and bad guys”, the deaths involved in the process, the geographical details, etc. . In many areas, was quite predictable but it had other plot twists that I didn't expected so that completely surprised me. There were some things I didn't like :
What I liked was that there is no romance. I already expected the typical “and they kissed, hugged and stayed together forever” , but it wasn't, which I loved. As an extra touch, caught me off the end of the twins (what I wont say because I don't want to ruin anyone's reading).
In conclusion, this book has its virtues and defects equally but it's great to hang out and enjoy a little quick reading .
Despite all the bad reviews that this book had, I decided to read it and give it a chance. I was really really excited to read something about life -in this case, death- of Poe. I started reading with many expectations and at first I thought it was interesting, but then ... The main character, even though history says that is not about him at all, never stops talking about himself, his life, his feelings, how good it is, etc.. and that's pretty tired and makes you hate the character, and I ask... Where on earth was Poe's story? I mean, It's not about Quentin! Because in that case the book will be called “Quentin's shadow” Also, there are parts where the action is terribly slow and there is no action, but then becomes faster and faster and the words seem to be written in a hasty and meaningless way. Moreover, the obsessive addiction has Quentin by Poe has no basis and his search is a little bit stupid in parts.
However, I must admit that some facts about Poe's life were interesting, but that was the only good book. I definitely do not recommend it!
Wow! This is stunning!
I love Ruiz Zafon's books and this is one of the creepiest that he has. The clown scenes were really really scary (if you imagine it carefully). It deserves 5 stars but I'd love to read more about the Prince of the mist, and know how the hell did he became in kind of ghost! Unfortunately, this was too short for me. I'd like to read more!
I was really excited to read this book because someone told that it was great and I thought that this could renew my love for books but ir wasn't. It was pretty interesting at the beginning but then... Was awful and extremely boring. It's all about Miss Winter's life and the thoughts of Margaret Lea. But her thoughts are boring, full of fear and strange ghosts that don't exist. And the life of Miss Winter is conpletely weird and the main characters as Charlie and Isabella are pyschotic and maniac, also the twins are... Just freaks.
I really wanted to like this book but unfortunately I couldn't. The only thing that I liked was some interesting quotes that I've found.
He leído [b:God's Spy|681552|God's Spy|Juan Gomez-Jurado|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1177101943s/681552.jpg|1936775] y [b:The Moses Expedition|6715394|The Moses Expedition|Juan Gomez-Jurado|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1347382724s/6715394.jpg|6911450] del mismo autor y ambas me gustaron mucho.
I'm very confused about this book. I must say that at first, the story was very slow and I was losing interest, but the plot was good and I was trapped; but the story became too long again and I wanted to put it down. Almost at the end, the conflict was very interesting and I finished reading. In conclusion, the story is not good: it is very good but it's long and boring in many parts and also I didn't like the sex scenes. I'll have to think long and hard to read her next book: [b:The Fire 2848984 The Fire Katherine Neville http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1320441636s/2848984.jpg 2875107]
I like all of Ted Dekker's books but I have to be honest and say that at first, this book didn't caught me but as I progress in reading, I loved it! Emotions overwhelm me as if I had drunk the blood ... No, I'm kidding. But it was very interesting and it showed the combination of both writers. An excellent book.
This book is really really weird! I mean, I liked the beginning and how the story unfolded, but there were some things that I found curious: first talk about reincarnation, then on pain of a father losing his son and finally on child trafficking. Although the story was entertaining, I did not like the ending. However, the novel is very easy to read and is great to hang out.
