Acest almanah are o singură mare calitate: nu e la fel de prost ca cel din 2015...

Cel mai prost număr din istoria Almanah Anticipația. Coperta ar fi trebuit să-mi fie un indiciu destul de clar...

terribly dated, but still strangely addicting (today it feels quite ridiculous as prose and ideas, but I still can't stop reading and the world is very original and surprisingly nasty)

Amazing form (prose), lackluster content (lacking story)

Pov from the perspective of a thief. I hate thieves, can never empathise with one, so I cannot read this.

Good writing and dialogues, but the author's talent is wasted in this book which feels like reading a Skyrim quest (with included draugrs) or someone writing down while playing a very generic Rpg.

Just couldn't connect either with the writing or the characters or the secondary world. Second book from this author i felt like having had to read smth else first (as if it's a 2nd or 3rd book in a series) and found difficult to understand. Note to myself: stop trying Hayes!

Read 10% and gave up. Too slow, too confusing, too generic, too nowadays tech and ideas (in supposedly far future). But mainly too slow-going.

Too YA for me, not my kind of humor and I did not like the simplistic writing style either (feels like “fantasy for dummies”). I also hate chase stories. Not at all what one would expect from that cover (which I like).

On one hand, this is an amazingly deep, original and good book - it feels like Malazan written by Jemisin. On the other hand, it is a terribly tiring reading experience (again, like Malazan) and I felt like studying for an exam while reading it. So a 5/5 book, but a 2/5 experience.

Didn't really like the art so much (not bad, though) but excellent story.

I kept hearing how good and seminal this book was, but also kept putting it aside in my Tbr list because i feared it would feel dated. And it's true. It is a great book and it does feel really dated.

Probably the weakest PKD I've read so far (closer to “normal” scifi) but still a good read.

This was no longer fantasy mobsters, like the excellent first 2 books, but fantasy espionnage - and a very dragged on and boring one. Probably just a filler book before the last one in the series, but now I am not interested in that one anymore, either. Dnf 60%.
