I’ll probably reread again at some point in the future after looking more into the historical context of the book. from a solely narrative point of view (disregarding the racial themes) it’s a heartwarming tale — a slice of life book set in the rural fictional town of Maycomb, told through the innocuous lens of a very young Scout Finch.
I only read this briefly before going to sleep every night so I know I missed tons of thematic and symbolic details. But I can understand why it’s a classic—much to unpack here and would’ve loved this in my HS curriculum so that I could appreciate this book more.
this had a lot of technical details going on that i quickly scanned over, but it was still much more accessible for me than the martian. although a lot of technical problem-solving goes on that i didn't really understand in-depth, its theme of friendship and the high stakes of saving the world overrides it to make it an enjoyable reading for any book-lover layman. team rocky!!
