Let me just cry myself to sleep over how amazing this book is!! When I tell you it had me laughing at one page and crying at the next I'm not joking. Can't wait to read the next part.
3.5/5
Read it for a uni class on Atwood. To be honest, I liked parts of it, and I love Atwood's writing style, but this book wasn't for me. It was a vey taxing read, with parts that made me feel awful.
Where to start? I liked the parts with Duncan the most. Marian seemed the most herself with him, and she wasn't afraid to speak her mind or to ask for things she wants. He was also a very interesting character. I also enjoyed the ending, that is why I gave a half star more.
The parts where she was thinking about food and eating really disturbed me, as I am easily influenced and was afraid something would be so graphic that would make me not eat that thing ever again. So I think if someone has an actual eating disorder, this book would be very triggering.
Overall, it wasn't the worst, but I strongly prefer Atwood's short stories, and this was a book that I wouldn't have read on my own accord, if it wasn't for the class.
Decided to reread this, as it has been many years since I last read this series, and I have to say, I wasn't dissapointed. Is this the best book ever? Of course not. Does it have it's problems? Hell yeah. But was it an enjoyable read to turn off my mind and relax? You can bet.
The plot is engaging and easy to follow, the characters are delightful, and some situations are hilarious, with all the kidnapping shenanigans.
I flew through the pages, and I can't wait to revisit the rest of the series between more depressing books, just to cleanse my pallet.
Great collection of essays. My favorite was the one about Dali. Orwell is a great essayist. I can't wait to read more from him.
Loved it! I need to read more Asian fiction written by Asian authors. Cannot wait to start the second book.
Well, it's official. I am deeply in love with Naomi Novik's writing style. I just love her characters, their dynamics. I also love a good character-driven plot, and the fact that I loved the first-person POV when otherwise I can't stand most of these type of books just speaks volumes.
I adored her magic system in Uprooted as well, and this one also felt like I could grasp it. The concept of the school is a spin on an old trope, but it felt refreshing, especially with how deeply strategic every decision had to be for El.
Can't wait for the next book, especially with how this one ended!!
This comic gives a simplified view of relationships, with the help of candy hearts. It is a quick read, with many great ones that made me laugh out loud, like the naming the rats or Valentine's Day one. It's an interesting concept that has a lot of potentials. It contains very relatable situations, from established relationships to first dates, situations that many people go through. It gives a look at the thoughts that go through people's minds while they interact with others. There is no denying it that some of these actually happened to me as well. Although there were some weird ones that made me frown, they were quickly forgotten because of the next comic.
Overall, it was a nice book, happy to have read it.

This graphic novel is an adaptation of the famous movie with the same title. I have seen the movie a few times, it is an amazing experience, with its beautiful art style and breathtaking soundtrack. This graphic novel would be enjoyable for those who've already seen the movie, and for those who have not. I adored the more simple art style and the dedication to follow the original. I can recommend this graphic novel for anyone who loves a hearty, emotional story.
I DNFed this book, for a few reasons. One of which is that I didn't realize it had a first-person POV and I'm very picky when it comes to these books. If I can, I avoid them. Which doesn't mean I think it can't be done well, but this book just wasn't one of them. The writing style didn't click with me, it was way too flowery and descriptive, which didn't make sense considering we were reading someone's inner thoughts. The main character was also very insufferable and annoying. I was very disappointed because the premise of the book was very interesting. It had potential, but it was wasted on the first-person POV. It would have been much better with maybe a close third-person POV. I read about 50 pages, but it felt more like a chore than entertainment.
DNFd after 50 pages. As a Hungarian, the use of random Hungarian words were very distracting. The writing style was fine, the story typical of the genre.
To start off honestly, I am probably not the target demographic for this comic book. I enjoy superhero stories but don't seek them out especially. It was a decent read, but nothing special in my opinion. Quin was a likeable and relatable main character, but others didn't really stand out. I think graphic novels that are part of a series cannot be judged justly by themselves storywise. I would probably want to see how the story continues if I was more interested in superhero stories. As it is, it was a fine experience, but nothing world-changing.
The 2 stars is me being generous. It was just so meh, I was finding excuses not to have time to read it. This year, I will DNF the books that I don't enjoy and won't be pushing myself to finish everything.
Oh my god!! What was this ending?? And I don't have the second book yet! I might just scream.
I enjoyed this book, although it was a hard read. It's very slow paced, and I can understand that it's not for everyone, but I loved the flowing language and all the references. As someone who was obsessed with Greek mythology as a child, these stories within the story were awesome. Fabulous retelling.
Loved this sequel just as much when I was first reading it. The natural progression of Damen and Laurent's relationship, the building trust is thrilling to read. Loved the elaborate schemes and planning, the mind games. And the last 100 pages are even more exciting than the rest. Great book, can't wait to finally finish the series, and see how all this resolves.
Reread it because last time I didn't get around to read the third book, so I needed a little refresher. Enjoyed it just as much as last time. It's a great book, a quick read. Admittedly, not the best in the series, but a fine introduction to a new world. Can recommend.
I'm not one to read memoirs but I'm happy I picked this up. I laughed, I cryed, it made me angry. I could relate to it at certain points. It's a book worth picking up.
Well, well, well. Second stop of my reread tour of the series, and I was regretting it a little. With so much passing time, my memories of this book got all muddled up. First time, I probably loved this one, but this time around, it wasn't so good. I couldn't wait to finish it. Although I love Anthony's character, their relationship with Roslynn was a torture to read. Their dancing around each other, arguing about nothing was not enjoyable.
Only saving points of this book was James and Jeremy, my two favourite Malorys. I don't think without them I would have finished the book.

This is a graphic novel with a post-apocalyptic setting, with a quite basic premise when it comes to the genre, but the art style definitely makes up for that. The main characters, the Goodwoody brothers, Zack and Archer, are likeable and can carry the plot. It was an interesting read, although not really the type of graphic novel I would pick up off the shelf in a book store I'm happy I got to read it.
