I absolutely fell in love with this story. At first I didn't understand why Clara's friend Gaynah was so mean to her, but you find out towards the end what is going on. This story is going to be added to myshelf for students to check out because I think it has a lot for kids to learn. I can't wait to purchase on publication day!
Serena Says is about a middle grade black girl named Serena who is going through some of the ups and downs of middle school. This book brought back some memories I had from middle school. It was such a time for learning who we were and how we were going to fit in the world. This book had the perfect atmosphere. I love that Serena was using vlogging as a tool to learn how to talk to her friends, family and people in general.
I loved how Serena started out with her friendship with JC but had to figure out how to really communicate with her now that there relationship was changing a bit. Luckily they learned to communicate with each other and are still friends in the end.
Thank you for the e-arc from NetGalley for this novel. I was intrigued by the description of the novel. It is very much Stranger Things meets X-Files. I loved the friendship that evolved over the story. It was a weird wild ride.
Incredible
I was totally captivated by the incredible story of humanities deepest fears when it comes to AI in the future. I've read one other book by Crouch and I can't wait to read many more.
No Vacancy by Tziporah Cohen is a lovely tale of a Jewish girl learning how religion isn't something that needs to come between people. Miriam is a middle school student whose parents just bought the Jewel Motel Inn. Through some adventures during the summer she finds out that the community loves her and her family, it just takes a miracle for her to see that.
This was an absolute delight to read. I can't wait for publication day in September when I am able to get a phycial copy to add to my library cart in my office. I know there are students who will love this story, and some who should read this story.
This was a pretty good story. I felt a little confused towards the end but still enjoyed it.
Not your normal Stephen King.
This was an interesting novella. Wasn't exactly what I was expecting at the end, but it ‘made sense' for the story. It didn't read as horror though, although I can see how it could be categorized as that for some people.
The premise of this book really caught my eye. I was very intrigued. I am so glad that I jumped into this because it was really enjoyable from beginning to end. I really loved the character development between Clara and Josh. I loved how much of a shy goody girl Clara was. I hope if you are considering this book at all, do it. Just jump right in and read the book. I listened to this on audio and it was amazing.
This was an interesting read at first. It is told in 4 short stories about this cafe. Loved the time travel and would recommend.
Cute graphic novel for my son (10 yrs old). He really enjoyed it, there were a ton of jokes that I laughed at. We have the rest in the series too.
This was very interesting. Not sure what I expected going in but it was nice to listen to while it was raining.
This was so good! I loved that Nick and Charlie were navigating how to just come out to everyone while on a school trip to Paris. I was hoping we would see Nick interact with his father and also introduce Charlie to him. The birthday party was something I think any high schooler can relate to. The chaperones getting together sort of off paper was cute to see kind of mimic Nick and Charlie.
I enjoyed this book. I think the writing style wasn't really for me but I was curious the entire time reading that I loved the story. I do not have any experience of a graduate program, let alone a writing cohort, but this book made me wonder about the people who are in those cohorts and such.
I would not recommend this book for just anyone. Super strange, and if you are not into that, it isn't for you.
I absolutely loved this quick chapter book. It was easy to read. I know my son will enjoy me reading it to him. I loved the friendship between Kondo and Kezumi. The drawings were interesting to the eye. Loved the map images!
Omg
This was so good. Lots of thoughts. Lots of fear, stomach clenching and anxiety along the way. Until the end. Then I was just sad and sorry.
Interesting twist
Liked this one the best so far. Kept me engaged during the entire read. Loved the twist. I could kind of see if coming, but not really. Maybe I didn't see it coming because of how short the novella was. Great read. Would read again.
Not my favorite
This has been my least favorite of the collection so far. Unfortunately I think it is mostly due to the audio for the book. The reader would change speed constantly, which was annoying. I liked the different voices, but again, they were annoying.
Sneak peak from NetGalley
Predictable. Pretty much. I only got thru chapter 6 or 7 though. I'll have to wait for the release to read the rest of the novel.
This was so nice. I don't know what took me so long to finally pick it up. Started as audio but I had to finish reading because I liked it that much. Loved the connection that was made through the letters.
