This had the potential to be a 5 star read, but the ending. So disappointing.
Short chapters, multiple povs and a great plot. What more do u need? But the ending of the book ruined the entire thing for me:(
In the first 2/3 of the book it was a SLOW SLOW SLOW burn but suddenly last third everything sped up, I got confused and it was hard to keep track of everything going on.
Also I thought we would get more fast paced action packed scenes but for about half the book all we got was them trying to figure out how to get to the location.
I liked some of the twists we got but not all. Overall I think everyone should read this book coz I liked the message it was trying to portray but I wasn't a big fan of the way it was executed.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the e-arc:)
This book reads a lot like [b:The Guest List 51933429 The Guest List Lucy Foley https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1580194251l/51933429.SY75.jpg 73094861], but [b:The Guest List 51933429 The Guest List Lucy Foley https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1580194251l/51933429.SY75.jpg 73094861] was done so much better! The reason both felt similar was coz we are in a remote area for someones wedding(in this case its for a hen party) and we know someone has died in the beginning and we go through the entire book getting chapters from then and now and all the characters and finally we come to the chapter where we find out who died. The reason I didn't like this much was coz all the characters were very unlikable and everything they did was so idiotic(that's the only way to tell it). Also there are books with unlikable characters which you can read but this one I was getting mad with everyone and their idiotic decisions.Overall if you are looking for a fast paced read with unlikable characters in a remote setting this one is for you:)Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for an opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Lisa Jewell is officially an autobuy author for me!!
She has this way of making you care so much abt the characters and in some parts of the book I almost teared up.
And the ending, one of the most satisfying endings ever!
Read this if you love;
-Mother daughter relationships
-short chapters
-Alternating timelines
-Multiple povs
-An emotional roller coaster
There were some parts in the middle where it felt a bit slow, but towards the end it became more intense and I just kept flipping pages to see what would happen next.
Cant wait to complete her backlist!
Alice Oseman is officially one of my fav authors of all TIME!!!!
Loved all the characters(favs are Jason and Pip :) and I was so sad when the book ended:(
The book also talks about the importance of friendships and I loved it so much for that coz normally in books friendships are given a second place but here I loved it so much for the friendships the characters had with each other. They were so wholesome and sweet.
Just finished 4.5 stars. Lovedd this one!! Very fast paced and I felt so much sympathy for the characters, I also loved how we got all povs of the story coz I feel like I was connected more to the characters.Highly recommend!! If you love [a:Lisa Jewell 93504 Lisa Jewell https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1272239443p2/93504.jpg]'s books then this book is perfect for u!!
3.5
This is the first time reading a cult thriller and I really enjoyed it.
Loved the past timelines where we learned abt the cult and the plot twist was crazyy.
Only think is I wish the book was shorter coz I felt i dragging for way too long.(It took me 2 weeks to read it,when at other times I take 3 days to finish a book at most) If it were shorter this would have definitely been between 4 to 5 stars.
Read this if you love;
-Cult thrillers
-Multiple povs
-Past and present timelines
-Spooky atmosphere
-Crazy twists
Thank you to netgalley, the publishers and the author for the e-arc:)
OKAY let me start off by saying I removed a whole star coz Kenna our mc coz she was so annoying!! She was so nosy and I felt like with the way she kept asking questions and annoying everyone I was surprised that she didn't get killed.
I would have dnfed it coz of that nosy woman Kenna but I was really invested in the tribe and everything to do with it. And I loved the vibes of the book it was set in an isolated beach in Australia called Sorrow Bay
The premise of the book sounds a lot like The Island by Adrian Mckinty and at times while reading it felt a lot like it coz it was set in Australia (like The Island and here also we got a tribe(a bit like a cult) but as I kept reading on the similarities ended and I was able to separate the 2 books in my head.
Also this book had a lot of surfing in it and now I feel like an expert on the various surfing terms lol
If you are looking for a summer read with lot of beachy and surfing vibes this book is perfect for you:)
I wish the ending would have been a bit different and I wish that the thing that had been happening had been revealed towards the end (so that it would have been more shocking) but it was def smthg unexpected. Very excited to read Allie Reynolds other book the Shiver for all the snowy and wintery vibes:)
Thank you so much to netgalley, the publishers and Allie Reynolds for the arc:)
This comes out on the 19th of July:))
I didn't know that this was a series and I wish I had known that sooner coz I would have enjoyed this more. Gonna try n read them asap!
3.5I like this a tad bit more than I liked [b:We Were Liars 16143347 We Were Liars E. Lockhart https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1402749479l/16143347.SY75.jpg 21975829]. It felt like it would be a 4-4.25 star while reading, but there was a twist in the last few chapters, (the one which revealed that it was actually Carrie who killed Pfeff and not Bess) which made me lower my rating to a 3.5.Overall an enjoyable, fast paced read which is perfect for the summer:)
3.5This review might contain spoilers for the family upstairs, so proceed with caution. Thank you!In this sequel to [b:The Family Upstairs 43822820 The Family Upstairs (The Family Upstairs, #1) Lisa Jewell https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1564517337l/43822820.SY75.jpg 66179743] we explore the Lamb's family more thoroughly. Unlike [b:The Family Upstairs 43822820 The Family Upstairs (The Family Upstairs, #1) Lisa Jewell https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1564517337l/43822820.SY75.jpg 66179743] which was more dark and twisted this is a slow burn mystery with family drama and in depth character study. In the typical Lisa Jewell style,we get short chapters that helps a lot in flying through the book and the writing is very easy to read.I liked the family upstairs more than this coz this was very slow and didn't have much twists but I really enjoyed reading more about the characters and their lives. There was one particular story line in this which had a very satisfying ending and I have given one star solely for that. While this can be read as a standalone I recommend reading The family upstairs first and then this coz you can get into the story more easily. My review of The Family Upstairs- Review of The Family Upstairs
Reading this felt like having a conversation with someone who you are close to, someone you trust. Everything is shown in a way that is very easy to understand. From the words to the pictures to the comics it was very simple and useful.
And I learnt a lot by reading this; the author showed us how to accept and love someone who is coming out, how just because we are assigned a certain gender at birth it's always not who we actually are, and how society has a certain way of how girls are supposed to act and how boys are supposed to act and much more.
The author also left spaces for us to write our personal thoughts and feelings and I wish that I had a print copy so I can write and annotate coz it's impossible to do it with the ebook:(
Also coz it's an ebook and the book is illustrated like a comic some parts overlapped with others and it was very confusing to read at times coz two sentences would be intertwined.
But overall I really liked this! Highly recommend checking this out!
I picked this up on a whim coz all the other books I was cr were not keeping my attention and I finished this in less than 2 hrs!!!
Already started book #2:))

Oh wow the respect I have for Lana is immense. I was so close to tears and my heart feels broken with everything that was revealed here.
Started book #5 and I am sad that the series is almost to an end:(((
Currently in a mega book hangover coz I just finished the series.
Finished it in less than 24 hrs who am I?!!?
Wow the feelings I get when I think of the book is so hard to describe;
I couldn't stop crying at some parts coz my heart went out to these characters and everything they went through.
Overall thoughts on the series.
I couldn't care less abt the romance that was happening in here, but as the series went on I was able to start tolerating it more and more.
Lovee the characters and I felt so much anger and hatred toward everyone that did them wrong and I was so glad with the way everything happened in the end.
I want to say more but coz its a series with really short books Im afraid that I might spoil it.
BUT PLEASE IF YOU ARE SEEING THIS AND HAVEN'T READ THE SERIES YET. GO READ IT NOW!!!!!
This would make a perfect tv show btw <3
Had high hopes for this one because it has been compared to The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware a lot (one of my fav books) but it was such a disappointing read.
While some parts did feel very creepy/spooky other parts felt like they didn't have any depth.
This had soo much potential to have all the spooky atmospheric feels coz its set in Norway and with all the various legends but I feel like by the way it was done I didn't feel any of those atmospheric vibes.
But I did enjoy the part with the folk tales and the sad lady coz those parts genuinely creeped me out, I had just put the book down and was getting ready to sleep and I suddenly saw the description of the sad lady in my mind and had to keep d light on for a bit lol.
I also liked the part abt how the building of this house was affecting nature and the things that kept happening, coz those parts were described really well.
3.5
Not the fast paced, twisty thriller I was looking for but still a great read nonetheless.
It was so slow at the beginning even tho we had VERY short chapters but after the 50% mark when things started getting revealed I got more into the story.
Like all the reviewers say, I suggest trying to read upto the 50% mark if it feels slow for u coz after that the reveals start happening pretty quickly.
The guest list is still my fav tho by Lucy Foley coz its one of the first thrillers I read aand one of my first 5 star reads.
3.25
The book starts off very slowly and the characters make VERY dumb decisions. I mean who goes on a trip a few weeks before you are about to give birth? So that kinda annoyed me. And there were some parts I forgot coz I read the few chapters and coz I was so bored I put it down and didn't pick it up for a while.
But decided to continue and it went okay. The twists caught me off guard and when the first twist came I was shookkk, didn't expect that.
I must say tho I am not a fan of the direction the book went in coz u have to suspend your disbelief quite a bit.
But overall a good read:)
Check tw pls coz it deals with some very heavy topics surrounding babies. And those parts were very hard for me to read.
3.5
I wish I had known that this was more of a character/psychological study when going in coz I expected more of a mystery/thriller.
It had a very slow start but then as the book goes on, you get invested in the characters and everything they did and it makes it easier to continue.
Some parts had me so close to tears and other parts just hit me in a whole other way.
Def recommend this one!!
One of my most anticipated reads of 2021 and it was just so boring boring boring.
I was SO BORED that at one point I just started skimming through the chapters coz I wanted to find out the big mystery behind everything. But then it wasn't explained properly. Wasted so much time for nothing. *smh
If you are searching for smthg with a similar concept just watch the show manifest, that is like 1000 times better than this:)

SO GOOD!! Gave me major squid game vibes and I LOVED it!!
Im hitting myself on d head for not borrowing the rest of the volumes coz I wanna start them asap
