3.5 rounded up to a 4. As the prequel to some of the books in the series that I have already read, this was good context and an enjoyable read. I am not sure that I would suggest reading it first or waiting to read it at the end, I think either would work, depending on how much of the backstory you would like in advance.
AMAZING!!!!! I loved this book!!! I am so excited for “God in Ruins”!! This is such a wonderful read and is so enjoyable as well as being interesting!
Wonderful and so very poignant. I felt so heard and seen and in tune with this book for so many reasons. Not because I see myself as an artist, because I am not,
3.5 rounded up. While it was an enjoyable read overall, this had its ups and downs. While fiction of course doesn't have to be plausible to be an enjoyable read, there is just something about the topic of addiction and rehab being portrayed as somewhat sci-fi that limits the ways the story can be spun. Maybe this is why this felt almost too close to “Nine Perfect Strangers” in some ways. The differences were enough to make it a good “beach read” but it was not quite as intriguing as I wanted it to be and lost me in a couple of places, but then it picked up again, so in the end it was still good read.
