A book which effortlessly took me to another continent and another life. I've often found myself resistant to any kind of magical realism but in this book it worked. I enjoyed it a lot.

This is one of those rare books that has the power to change your life. Without a shred of self-pity Josie takes you into a world of pain and the need to endure that which sometimes feels unendurable. Through the lens of her patience and ability to see wonder in the smallest most mundane thing she reminds us that we can be everything even when we are completely constrained.
A memoir, but a textbook for finding the miraculous in every day. Read it, keep it, and buy one for your best friend.
