Surprisingly... This book was VERY good. It didn't push for “just do it” strategy and recognized that is is not the problem. If we could just do it we would, it is a dumb advice. I'm naturally talented procrastinator. Maybe I know the most of the simple techniques that don't work or work unreliably. Yeah, yeah... just make a prioritized to do list of what you need to do and stick to it, that's a common one. But this book delves way more deeper and offers solutions from completely different point of view. Plan leisure time first! And be dedicated to that leisure time. That's one example.
Very balanced book throughout with good information. Highly recommended if you have troubles to start, continue of finish your projects or if you are feeling drained, exhausted, anxious and having too little time for all the work you need to do. Or if you just feel that more balance in your work-play time is needed. Also good if some people in your private life or work are procrastinators, there was whole chapter on that topic.
So.... just read it. :P
So you think microbes are bad? Or that there are good microbes and the bad ones? Or that there is no ideas for your upcoming fantasy novel in recent science discoveries? Or that there is nothing particularly new discovered in last decades about how human bodies work? Or that best way to deal with bacteria is to have it all sterilized as often as possible?
Well this book in very entertaining way will prove you wrong. Read it if you like interesting stories about animal world too. I didn't like that part though. But other than that it's book about the science in it's motion, the newest discoveries. Weird how much we still don't know. Entertaining. Probably this will be common sense after some decades. And a lot of opportunities to deal with conditions previously there was no solution to. (What? Autism might be caused from bacteria? Crazy.) And this book delivers just that. Crazy real science.
Living a good life? How? Is it a question for philosophy to answer? Stoics think so. And they offer their tools and advice and their philosophy of life. How can you live life in the best way possible if you don't have structure in your mind how to make best decisions? In my opinion the most important argument in this book - yes, you need good philosophy of life. Don't go around the life without it. And there is one possible answer. Take a look by yourself if it the best one for you.
Meh.
Varbūt esmu pārāk skarba, bet parasti man zinātniskā fantastika ļoti patīk.
