This was a solid debut novel, the worldbuilding is very interesting and immersive. Initially we know very little about the world, characters and motives but as the story progresses you learn more. I do think this may put some people off reading it and does hamper emotional connection with the characters somewhat, but I liked how it was done and didn't hinder my enjoyment.
A really fun, fast paced read with constant action and chapter lengths were ideal! Can't wait to see where the next book takes us!
ARC review: This is the third installment in the Tales of Aedrea series. The writing style was great, the world very immersive with likeable characters and companions and an overall heartwarming cozy fantasy story. Although the stakes were a little too low for my personal taste (Sword & Thistle was the perfect level for me) the story kept me interested and wanting to be read. Highly recommend checking out this book (and series) if you like the cozy fantasy genre.
This book kept me encaptured throughout! I definitely have a soft spot for cozy fantasy, and this was cozy fantasy done right. A fun adventure with a host of likeable characters, a heart-warming ending and nicely tied into Cursed Cocktails. A must read for fans of the genre.
Another outstanding addition to the thrilling adventures of Ana and Din. The murder mystery element was very nicely done, with a series of unexpected twists and turns that kept me guessing throughout (mostly wrongly!). The world-building further explores Ana and Dins evolving relationship, while also revealing more about the Leviathans and the Empires origin, rulers and it's people.
Fantasy/Murder Mystery is quickly becoming my favourite genre, and Robert Jackson Bennett masterfully blends the two genres with A Drop of Corruption, creating another page-turner that hooks you from the beginning and is a must-read for fans of both fantasy and murder mysteries!
Thank you to NetGalley and Del Ray for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
NetGalley approval came through the day after I finished Hunger of the Gods, so naturally jumped straight into this.
Incredible and epic conclusion to the Bloodsworn Saga. Such an immersive book, fight scenes and the world building were masterfully written and character arcs were tied up nicely (Elvar's especially).
Perfect ending to the perfect series.
I've had The Forsaken Planet on my TBR a while now and decided to start with this to see if the series was for me. It was fast paced, with good world building and likeable characters. Pretty short being a novella but a fun read nonetheless and left me itching for more. I jumped straight into The Forsaken Planet (book 1 in the power of the stars series) and am currently enjoying that just as much.
Another fun adventure, this time set in the sprawling city of Lamplight. Full of more unexpected twists, turns and shocking revelations. Highly recommend checking out this if you were a fan of the previous two.
Was great to see some recurring characters and nods to previous events as well.
Another fun adventure with Izzie and Evie (not forgetting Penny and Mr Homes of course!)
Action packed with a delightful amount of twists and turns along the way and a sprinkling of humour, excited to read the next one!
Great novella and adds to the world building of Harbinger of Justice. Fast paced and action packed making it impossible to put down.
That ending was completely unexpected but brilliant.
