2,5/5
At the beging i was septic because it reminded me 50 shades of Grey (that i love so much !) But finally it's différent and liked it. some situation and the behaviour of Gabe make me uncomfortable sometimes. In conclusion it was a beautiful new romance read.
Once again the Baudelaire children escaped Count Olaf on the last second but lost their friends for it. In this book they are sent in a village where all the inhabitants are supposed to take of them. We soon see the “craziness” of the adults, they don't listen to the Baudelaire and force them to work for the town an enormous amount of time each day. But we quickly have some news of their friends, the Quagmires.
This particular book is a real turn of event for the rest of the series we start to see it of something bigger that just the unfortunate adventures of the orphans. They also take a big decision at the end of the book. The rest of the series promise to be different from what we are used to.
Out of all the books by Douglas this one is my least favorite one. Even though it is very interesting I prefer when the author is concentrating on praticular stories to tell rather than generalities like this one.
The writing is very good and clear. The author is compationate and gives advices to the reader to prevent some accidents.
this reading was great but it wasn't enought to keep me inside the book ‘till i finished it
Oo this is the second book of the infernal devices trilogy. I decided to listen to it on audio and to be honest I am glad I did. To start with it was not a bad book. The universe of shadow hunter is interesting and the plot overall is also interesting, it is well build and written.
But I think that so many people are so in love with the universe in general that every time I am just waiting for something incredible but no.. The first 60% of the book was rather boring, nothing really happened, the plot was not really moving forward. It made me feel that the book was too long, at the end even though I did not hated it I just wanted it to be over, and I was not even reading it physically.
And then my “problem” with the book was the love triangle. I am really not a fan of love triangles, I avoid them because it will probably ruin the story for me. It did not ruin this book to me simply because like I said before nothing happens for a good portion of the book. I was really frustrated with the whole story : the indesition of Tessa, the whole demon story of Will. I place some hope in the final book to have more action and the resolution of the plot, and I cross my fingers that the love triangle won't be too much of the plot.
I just think this particular trilogy in the whole universe was not really for me, because the universe is pretty cool.
