This book was so good! It was creepy but not too scary, and so much fun. Loved all the characters!
This is one of my favorite books. I love coming at the topic of comics from a feminist, multicultural and context driven lens. Absolutely incredible
Sam Wilson may not be the Cap America we deserve but he definitely is the one we need. Is it on the nose in its cultural commentary? Definitely. Do I care? Not an ounce. The writing is brilliant and the characters are so lovable. I am so down for Sam Wilson, cranky old man Steve Rogers, the amazing Misty Knight, Credence dealing with his mental illness, and the new comer as Falcon!
In lieu of a review let me just give you the imagine of me sobbing
I loved it. It broke my heart. I'm a good way?
This was both heartbreaking and truly beautiful. I learned a lot about Scientology while also hearing a beautiful story of friendship and family. Fully recommend
This was a reread for me, and I think I loved it even more on second reading. Green Arrow is one of my favorites, maybe my absolute favorite of the DC lot, and this depiction of his origin is flawless.
I adored this book start to finish! I am so taken with the writing style and sense of characterization! Get it if you love the story and if not, it could be a great entry point
I listened to the audiobook of this while I was traveling to school and I loved every minute. This book made me cry while driving too many times to count, I was just so moved by everything that went into creating this masterpiece and lives that have already changed as a result. I always think of Jimmy Fallon telling Lin-Manuel Miranda that he doesn't even know him and he's proud of him. That's how I feel too!
So excited for these epic new additions to the bat family! Can't wait to learn more about all of them
The first volume had it's issues, but I generally enjoyed it. They took Batgirl in a very different direction. She basically has become the Legally Blonde of super heroes, but no lie, it was fun and entertaining.
This volume was a hot mess. It was a cluster of random, with no coherent narrative. If product placement can be other superheroes from other comics, this book was full of product placement. It did make me want to read the other comics, but it felt so shoehorned in.
Batgirl as a character was all over the map too. It was impossible to get to know her, because she was never the same person.
Don't get me started on the Instalove that happened with every male character in the story.
I wanted to like this because the side characters are so much fun, but I didn't.
All-New, All-Different Avengers Vol. 1: The Magnificent Seven
So much fun! I love these new versions of the Avengers. This book is so good and definitely worth checking out
This is one of the best comics I've ever read! If you enjoy the Tony Stark if the movies, this is the way to go. This volume explores the heart and growth in this character, with him on a mission to be a better man. I loved his team ups with Strange (their friendship is great) and with the newly revamped Dr. Doom. The intro of MJ to the comic was flawless. The love interests is so incredible, I was instantly pulled into their relationship. Also I would be remiss not to mention how stunning the art was! I kept stopping to admire it.
I love, love, love this book! I have quite the zombie thing, and have read many a great zombie story at this point, and this is one of my all time favorites. It is not at all what you would expect. It is deeply moving, romantic, philosophical, and bursting the the seems with the love of life and hope. I feel inspired. It's one of those books that makes you want to change the world, and yes, it is about zombies.
The characters are well fleshed out (okay I'm sorry, but I couldn't resist). The writing is flawless. It pulled me through the story so wonderfully. It's a really different and interesting take on the whole zombie mythos.
The Romeo and Juliet parallels were fantastic also. I love how they took the familiar idea and subverted it.
I would say, even if you don't traditionally like zombies or horror, if you do like incredibly thought provoking reads, check this one out.
I can also say the audiobook for this one was incredible.
Batman Beyond is cannon now! What a good time line they created here! I'm excited to see where it goes.
I have mostly good feelings about this book. It was so refreshing. I love that it wasn't about romance, but actually truly about how important good friends are. I LOVE that it passes the Bechdel Test about 1000 times over and is honest to blog about women friends without falling into caddiness. How refreshing! I love that the characters feel incredibly relatable.
My critique is that it occasionally steps into stereotype territory with some of the characters. Also, it can be very frustrating at times (the middle was a bit hard to handle for that reason).
Overall, I enjoyed it. I didn't love it, but I appreciate what it is and I do want to see more of this type of book.
The concept was so much better than the execution. The art was gorgeous though and I️ like the idea. I May dip in and see if it gets better
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this little gem! this unusual horror, scifi, fantasy hybrid was delightful! I read it nearly in one sitting and am already ready for more!
I came into it expecting a campy, silly fun read, and came out actually fully bought in. I loved this story! It exceeded all expectations. I was really invested in all the characters quickly–including minor ones–which for me is a sign of a series I want to stick with.
That ending though, for people who read it. I don't even have words.
Can't wait for the next one!
I has to read this classic because it's so influential to the story even now, and it was gorgeously done. But did it ever make me pissed at the fans. I mean, how could you fans do that to Jason! I love Jason!
It was also epic seeing the introduction of Tim Drake, my favorite Robin back when he was full of life and innocence!
This is everything I loved about the xmen as a kid! So much fun swashbuckling! Absolutely heart warming character moments (I cried). I am there for this!
I love Weirner's writing. He transports you to a place while unlocking the science and stories behind a phenomenon. He's incredibly funny and insightful. I read it during my commute to and from university and it was the perfect traveling companion
Absolutely incredible graphic novel. I wanted to read this since watching Legion. It was wonderful, great for fans of the show and for fans of the weirder side of superheroes. I love the driving idea of this story and the use of mental health as intertwined with his powers. The dialog writing is flawless and the art is gorgeous.
An incredible second offering! I love each new character as much as the original bunch. Absolutely stuck the landing on that ending!
