In one book Shonda Rhimes has become one of my heroes. This book made me feel more powerful. Can you get contact empowerment? If so, Shonda gives it in this exploration of an incredible break through year in her life. I laughed, I was moved, and most importantly I feel better from having read this book. What better thing can anyone say about a book?
P.S. I've started doing wonder woman power poses and it really does make you feel more confident.
This series couldn't make me happier. It's a book equivalent of a warm bath and a hot cup of tea. I love every character and every direction the story goes. Book 3 can't come out soon enough!
What a fantastic start to a new comic book series! I love this. I was hooked from page one!
This comic is what joy feels like! It is nonstop happiness and humor. The characters are wonderful and the meta jokes are very well played. It's all ages appropriate as long as kids can handle some cartoony violence
This immediately became one of my favorites and I will be following it faithfully. Jessica Cruz's arch exploring anxiety and the superhero life is one of the best things an anxious person like me could read. This made me incredibly happy. I love it!
I have loved this series through and through. the Robins remain my favorite part of the Batman universe, and this story brings all of them together while exploring the nature of being Batman's family. I love this direction so much. the new characters, Harper and Spoiler, were so much fun to meet. and the villain was truly bone chilling. fully hearted recommendation!!
Gorgeous and empowering book with a fantastic and complex young woman hero. Loved it!
This was a wonderful book (and a well acted audiobook). I really love how deeply it made me feel for the characters. I drew me into their struggles to the point I was having constant protective reactions as if I really knew them. It was a spot on, realistic and sympathetic depiction of recovering from addiction and all that that entails. I love the Garrett family and their whole dynamic. It was fabulous and went a lot of directions that I didn't expect. It was a very well done YA novel.
The art remains flawless, but the story didn't capture me in the way vol 1 and 2 did
A beautiful look at how to bring God out of the margins and into the midst of a chaotic life. What does loving God look like when you are a busy college student, a single mom, etc. It was amazingly impactful, and easy but inspiring read.
This made me so happy. I love Danny and Luke. I adore their banter and their friendship. This story was funny and sweet. Absolutely worth the read.
I love this one! Another super positive one if you are in the lighter mood. Great characters
This book was stunning. I am in awe of how lovely it is. It took me on a journey with the character in such subtle ways. I felt every emotional beat in my gut. The ending was so unexpected and perfect. I will definitely revisit this one from time to time
It was so wonderful revisiting this series! It was just as good as I remembered. I love the characters and gorgeous writing. There are some things here and there that are questionable but I was surprised by how well it aged overall. Fully would recommend
I am excited for this series. There were some aspects I didn't love about the first novel, but the characters are fantastic, and I am glad I decided to read through this one. It's a shamelessly fun romp through mythology, with a terrifically sarcastic narrator.
I loved the Sea of Monsters. It was even better than the first book! I love Tyson genuinely, he is one of my favorite characters and he never fails to make me smile.
This was an incredibly fun super hero story with some interesting friendship elements. I love a good story where the characters' inner lives entangle with the crisis at hand. Fun characters and creative ideas. I'm here for it
The story had excellent pacing and a truly lyrical quality to the writing! I especially appreciated that it starts in the middle of the action instead of spending whole chapters describing things. I enjoyed the world and the main characters. It was a fun, light fantasy.
I really wanted to get to know the minor characters better. They were intriguing but ultimately not well explored. I also found the ending a bit unimpressive when compared to the rest of the book, especially the insta-love quality.
All and all it was fun and an easy read.
This was an absolute delight to read. In the best way possible, this is a high quality officially sanctioned fanfic and I loved it. There were a few moments of eyebrow raise (why did Caitlin and Iris have an 80s movie style friend date, it was super weird), but everything else was pitch perfect for the show.
Since this is fan fiction basically...
What tags would this book receive in AO3? Probably Barry Hurt/comfort, Protective Ollie, worried Joe, OmG science, time paradox cancer?
For new comers to the show this is set in a time somewhere in the realm of season 2 flash though it's not clear exactly how it links up timeline wise. Most spoilers are for season 1 but it does talk about the big bag of season 2. No spoilers for season 3 or beyond.
I love the Hardy Boys, they are an obsession of mine (what should be a guilty pleasure, if I felt any book shame). They are mostly just silly fun. This one though didn't quite have the usual fun. It also made me want to seriously over analyze the Hardy Boys. No seriously, I feel like you could do a history of race relations in this country using only the Hardy Boys novels throughout the generations.
Okay, I'm done now.
This was the book I didn't know I needed. As always Shauna moves me and I find myself crying every page
Kyle Higgins is hands down one of my favorite authors and I am SO onboard for this reboot. He nails the characters while also improving on them. Yes please, more of this!
