I would like to say thank you to NetGalley and the publisher of this novel for the E-Arc copy.
Let us start :).
I read Forestborn when it came out and was amazed at the story. Wildbound on the other hand JUST elevates the story to a new level.
The characters mesh into the plot without being “clunky”. Someone already touched on Helos, so I will not. You could feel the love and heartbreak. I am not sure how to explain it without giving away spoilers. I know this story will draw your attention and you will be able to feel the emotions lifting off the page.
The way all of the characters interacted warmed my cold, dead heart to the point of melting (the aforementioned four rounds of tears). It was so heartbreaking seeing how these characters were affected by the war with Eradain, but again,
A complaint that does not take away my rating but will help the author. Create a designated page in the front that has a list of all the possible trigger warnings within the story. There are battle scenes and Helso has PTSD. The battle scenes, for me and only me, feel slow. Do not come for me, I like them because they fit well with the story. I have just got done reading a book with intense battle scenes, so adjusting from that book to this book makes those scenes slow for me.
.
The author has grown since her Forestborn, she has honed her craft even more.
I won't touch on relationships because that is just not my strength.
This is a fast read, I just took my time because I wanted to enjoy every second of this book. This is a fairly simple read, not too complex but not so simple that it feels mundane. Overall, it is a good book.
I can not say perfect because nothing is perfect but it is a good read.
January 2022 ⭐⭐⭐January reads:

After seeing that this is blatantly plagiarized. I can not support it.
I'm just a reader but if I wrote a book and spent enormous amounts of time, energy, and even money. Just to have my book be plagiarized. I would be lived.
I'm flabbergasted. I also do not understand that “why” aspect.
Why would you do that? Did one think they can get away with it?
Like... Come on...
It is common knowledge that everyone learns in Elementary/Middle/High school not to cheat by copying someone else's work.
We also learned to cite others if we use a few ideas, but downright plagiarizing (word-for-word) is just... (I do not even know what to say because I am that disappointed).
So... it's not bad. However, this is definitely an older book...
Anyway. It goes okay until Mistress Piggy eats all the food then we jump to a restaurant and it's... just a weird section that confused my kiddo.
(Received a copy for a honest review)
This (to me) is a manga that is very similar to Inuyasha, but it doesn't have a reincarnated presist and scared jewell. The art work is good, the plot and story are there but since it is only the first volume it lacks. There are many aspects that lack but I am sure will be covered in later volumes. I would recommend this for ages 10 to 13 to read. There is blood so trigger warning if that is not up your alley.
Now, Nanoka loses her mom and dad in sinkhole that appears out of no where. Someone or something evil is behind that event.
We then see her complaining about her morning shake that she drinks because her grandparents believe she is frail and weak..
Next she is chased by yokai (praying mantis creature) Mao appears and saves her and heals her.
Next she starts to feel weird and questions herself, looks for Mao finds him then time travels to 1923 (not through a well like inuyasha).
So yeah, modern day inuyasha. Decent.
Where to start?
The prologue in The Book of Souls grabbed my attention. For me, I was wondering “what is going on”? As it progressed I wanted more and to know more. Then the prologue ends and we finally make our way to the first chapter. Which takes place in a different setting that is completely normal. Talk about an attention grabber. Loved it.
As I devoured the rest of this book (without giving too much away), this book kept me wanting more.
One scene that stuck out to me the most was Jack calling for help but instead, he was told to let the holy spirit in. I felt that. That pain of relying on someone but never receiving help except in the phrases of “God heals” or “believe in god”. That scene made me emotional because I have been there. I am glad the dad did help jack come morning.
This book was thrilling from start to finish. It is a fast-paced read. Overall I would rate this book 4.5 stars.
The first book was great and this one is great as well. Finished reading The Fires of vengeance about two weeks ago. All I can say is OMG, YESSS...!!! I have read many books and the last time I was truly invested in a book, was when the seventh book of harry potter was published and that was 2007. I was in seventh grade y'all. I hope Evan Winters keeps this up. I am deeply invested. I hope more people find out about Evan Winters to experience these wonderful books. I learned about these books through a YouTuber. I was not disapointed.
Thank you, NetGalley for allowing me to read this.
I am not even sure how to start this.
Just like mother is a decent ride.
When it comes to books like this I do not get easily rattled and most times I can guess what happens next. I did know what will happen next in this book because, well It reminded me of a few movies combined. Books like this have been done before, same with movies and due to my age. It gets repetitive and cliche.
It is a “fast” read, but for me, it was predictable including the ending.
Another booktok fav but was let down. Once again disappointed and not my cup of tea.
Black Sun.
I'm have no idea how to rate this book. I also have no idea how to properly articulate my thoughts.
I did enjoy many of aspects of the book. However, here are more things I didn't like or felt bored reading.
I loved how I got to look through the perspective of someone else about generational trauma.
Like... holy cow yall!!!
I did enjoy how inclusive this book was. I'm not an expert in this topic but I believe it was written appropriately. Now, I do believe majority of the characters are fascinating. There was only one that I felt was... okay/not as compelling as the rest.
The writing style is heavy and one needs to take it slow.
However, I felt as though there was no room for interpretation but instead feed all the information. Which for me, it's a love-hate relationship.
The word building is... good?? but not the best imo. I appreciate it and this an area I don't know how to articulate my thoughts. With the three primary storylines we see... I didn't feel the different levels of danger that the characters faced. After a while I only like one storyline (Serapio) & wished the others would just... stop because I was becoming... unfocused/bored??
Y'all. It's a Solid book. I do recommend it. I just think im not in the correct mindset to read it.
I personally did not like this book, decent but I just could not bring myself to like it.
Fabulous second book. It was slow in the start but picked up.
My thoughts:
WHAT he is a MistBorn now, he has very little character growth and becomes a MistBorn all because of one mist spirit. I can't.
That twist of betrayal though. I didn't see that coming at all.
I was hoping more for zane.
Good book though.
I am not sure how to rate this book or how to even categorize it. Overall, it was not bad. I feel as though it is average/a little above average. I'm Thinking of Ending Things is confusing and you are left with “What did read”.
As of right now, I need more time to sit on this.
Let me just say, 3 to 3.5 stars.
I have always wanted to read this book when I was in middle school but never got around to it until recently. It is not a horrid book, it is decent. It did drag on in some sections, it was also boring in some, but it was also good in other sections. Overall a good book to read to middle schoolers.
It is a decent book for middle schoolers and young teens that need something easy and fast to read. I enjoyed the series. Just recently re read city of embers to remember details so I could read the other books in the series. If i had goodreads in middle school my rating would be higher.
This books is just decent. I do not like writing reviews that negative. So, I will say that this is not my cup of tea and someone will like this. But for an ending book of a series it could have been better, it was decent but could have been a lot better.
October 2024:
Waiting... patiently waiting.
The big question to be asked is...
Hardcover or paperback?
October 20th:
In six more day. I will only have to wait for one more month. Let's goo.
November 6th:
Aaaaaaaa it's almost release day. Let's goooooooooooo
November 10th:
I know, I know.... But y'all it's almost time for the book to be released.
insert hyperventilating meme AAAAAAA
Also, the pre-order link should be happening soon. I did ask if a hardback would happen when the pre-order link comes. Right now.... That is to be determined at this time. Which... I get. It's a big book. Kinda bums me out, only because the paperback will be destroyed with the way I read.
I read this book in 2014 durning NTC. I honestly did not think I would enjoy this book but I was wrong. One day before I was going to spend 2 weeks without phones, showers an all that good stuff. I went to the px to buy a book or two for this field training. I saw a whole bunch of books but this one an some other book caught my interest the most. So during most of ntc I did forget about these books until the last 3 days. When one of the vehicles could no longer move or be fixed. So during the last three days, i did nothing but read an wait. An this book was surprisingly good. The main character was a little annoying and the plot was simple.
I wish we had half stars because for me, Heir is a solid 3.5 book.
I don't have time to do a whole review but i do say go read that long two star review. A lot of that I agree with and think is accurate. Also go read that long 5 star review because that too is also accurate.
