wow wow wow
is there anything else I need to say
there is a great representation in the portrayal of both autisms as well as people coming in from overseas as mailorder brides. I can in expecting a relatively good story from all the hype on booktube as well as the review section on good reads. And it did not disappoint. it had a good narrative on both main characters as they move through this time together and working to understand how to coexist in their situation. the ending while not surprising tools a from that I was intrigued by. not what people were expecting from the author. there are many intricacies I want to explore again and review so I will defiantly give this a reread and post a full analysis later on
The book has a compelling plot that is chracter driven. The author threads lightly between past and present to explain the dynamic of the sisters and how killing can become a norm again. I feels more a story of sisterhood than one of a serial killer. While I enjoyed to progression the ending was a slight let down. There is also this felling for floating above an issue without really delving deeper
To begin my review on wild like the wind I would like to put forward that I have not read any of the other books in the series. I picked it up at the library and was intrigued by the premise of a motorcycle club as well as the long relationship that the characters have had together. As a stand-alone, the beginning is quite confusing as there are links to other books. but links are minimal where you can still enjoy it regardless. however, if you are reading the whole series this is positive as there is a clear flow of storyline and ideas as the author moves from one book to the next.
the characters were wonderfully written in. the explanation of their past years together as well as their hardship and emotions help put the readers in the right scenario. the dialogue and scenario put in helping us imagine the frustration of losing her husband as well as her gratitude for hound being there to help her as well as starting to become someone she relies on. we can see that she want to be with him, at least have interactions with him due to her insistence that he bring her checks.
the beginning of their relationship is odd with Keely propositioning sex. in which the first half of the book is heavy on the steamy scenes however it also shines some light on the way their relationship progressed. At the beginning of the relationship was simply the two main character satisfying their sexual needs. neither wanting to admit theirs through feelings. over Time the author writes in more dialogue that discusses their jobs, future, and children. there was more dialogue as they become more intertwined in each other
there are a few tear-jerking scenes for where the characters are dealing with their emotions where Keely is dealing with moving on from her dead husband and where Hound is afraid of losing the people he loved as well as dishonoring the man he thought as a brother. there a few moments that you think the trouble is coming and they are diverted which a quite fun with you expecting and calming down wich I fell keep you on your toes
one criticism if I must there are quite a few sex scenes that I feel that some were quite unnecessary to the story itself. they are on repeat some times. loses its purpose to show a change in the relationship. other than that I really have none. enjoy away
it is not going to be your typical love story. there are no intense scenes where you can feel the intensity between the couple but rather a book that focuses on the human connection not just between a couple but rather an entire range from friendship, family, and strangers.
it focuses on how the people that have faced the adversity have come together and have grown over the next 10 years as they learn to deal with their trauma and make something out of it. it was in interesting read for me as I often felt I could not read such stories I felt that they would not trill me. I felt that I needed a romance to feel the thrill of a mystery something that could keep me in a book. through this, I realize that where there is a human connection in a book I would be able to read it
quite enjoyable but at the same time quite different from the book written before this. here books such as the witness
its alright
the characters are really nice but the storyline does not make much sense or impact
I listened to the Audiobook.
While it is an intriguing premise, trying to mimic a real-life Sherlock and Watson, I feel I did not enjoy it because of how the audio book was read. It was monotonous. It was hard to concentrate on what was being said, and I had to rewind the book multiple times to listen to parts where I started to zone out. It was hard to get into. The book picked up the last 1/4, which made me feel like it might be worth reading more books in the series. But I think I will stay away from the audiobooks and stick to the physical copy if I ever get the urge.
When I compare it to other mystery audiobooks I have listed and enjoyed before, I realize the difference that could have caused me to feel it was monotonous was due to the lack of relationships in the book. The web of relationships is quite simple, even for the first book in a series. There is a lack of information about both Hawthorne and Horowitz, Which makes it hard to connect with the characters.
wow just wow. by far one of the shortes books that I have read but non the less a wonderful book. packed full of the mystery and thriller aspects. while some categories as horror I don't find it so prominant in this book.
give it a try you will not regret it
this book, in the beginning, was one of my favorites in the series with the inclusion of a character escaping from a cult and finding protection with the DSS. but it quickly turned into irritation because of the constant narrative that the female lead wanted to leave to protect the men from death. there is the constant having to address her emotions of inadequacies that it felt like I was reading the same pages over and over again. it was almost as though 20 pages of the book could have been removed and no one would have noticed a difference. there was a sudden change in the character where she was strong and defiant towards the antagonist which did not make sense because the author did not go through the process of showing her growth and went from I am insecure and will stand in a corner and fade away to I am super confident and can fuck over a drug lord. this totally did not make any sense. while I should have given this a1 star there are a few cute and humorous parts that might have saved the story just a little
It was a different format from what I am use to with Poirot books. He was not there every step of the way Instead we where able to see the dynamics of the suspects in thier boarding House interesting enough but I can't say it was my favourite of this series
I really loved this book. I surprised myself in the aspect that I thought that this book was not going to do it for me because it was YA and I had not enjoyed that category of romance for a long time. however, the manner in which the book was written as well as the themes that were discussed. they all created a storyline that felt very real because of the three-dimensional depiction of the characters as well as the multiple links that left us clues along with the ways through the old movie references. if anyone who is a huge old film buff I would think this book would tickle their fancy with the movies mentioned as it would be relatable to what they love and enhoy
this book was alright I guess. The storyline and concept were good but I did not enjoy the delivery. I also took away from the character studies as well as the one on one conversations and descriptions of the situation and atmosphere. while I could not get what I wanted from the book here I I acknowledge that a lot of effort had to be put into the crafting of the emails, text and newspaper articles to create a well-flowing story which was done in this book. but seeing that I almost DNF this book I would advise that new readers should take caution and test out the first few pages if you enjoy it before you purchase the book. because realistically it cannot be the cup of tea for everyone
it was really really good. i have always wanted to try reading a fantasy romance. I wanted From blood to ash but for the life of me could not find a copy in my region so i decided to satiate the wait with this and it did not disappoint. I want to read everything in this series now!!! Dianne's back log of books is going into my want to read as well
i don't know if it was intentional but there where parts of the book where the style of the dialog to show the language to fit the historical setting sounded like yoda and i found that so cute
It is interesting extension to the Holmes and Watson world but I feel like it lacks some depth in terms of detail. The book was too short and the mystery did not realiy have much detail rather than odd deductions and logical jumps that is Holmes magic
this was a surprise because a Christmas themed book you normally expect a lot of cliche romance but this was a refreshing twist to average Christmas read. the writing styles as well as the manner in which the authors link her ideas as well as answers the questions that she raises are very beautifully done. I really loved reading this book. I would not qualify it as a thriller or mystery. it's more of a semi mystery and semi romance. it has a lot more to do with the personal journey of Allegra over these experiences I feel. there are a lot more character interactions that suspense building which did not give a thrill factor that I have experienced in previous books of this style but I love the way she wrote and enjoyed the intricacies of the storytelling.
the links I talk of can be seen by readers with the advent calendar and clock, the issues of trusting for Allegra and the bespoke suit
it is also good to note that there is actually a dual mystery so call where there are two parts to the story that give Allegra issues in which on is related to sam and the other is related to her family
this book was really good. I feel that this is my first introduction to a dark romance but I almost feel there are defiantly books that can top the Dark scale so I would call this a beginner book more than anything. I have read books that have BDSM but honestly, they have nothing on Dark romances especially in how these books have the ability to twist your insides as you read them. they are as much about the sex as they are about the emotions that you feel when. Disclaimer I did use an audiobook which intensified the situations that the characters were experiencing. I often had to pause the book and take a breather because it eas getting too much for me as especially once she is in the trap
After having a hard time reading the first book because of its excessive length I decided to consume this book with a different route. I decided to listen to the audiobook while following the words on the book. This allowed to to keep track of the chracters much better and following the plot much easier.
And honestly the plot and plot twist where much better than the first book. Carefully hidden but still there. In the context of being a book in the mystery genre I feel that if faired much better than the first book. This might also have been due to the fact that the chracters themselves had been established and they where not being brought up in between the murder suspects
The story paints a wonderfully colorful image of the Thakur household with all the eccentricities as well as the differences in personality. this was set in the 1980's after the murder of then prime minister Indira Gandhi as well as the roots that took place after. (Ps I lived in Singapore my whole life so if any information about history is wrong I apologize)the manner in which the storyline was entwined with the actual history gave the book some dimension as well as to create a more believable situation this also created better character studies for the main character as well as the problems that they were facing. overall a wonderfully written book
to those reading it don't be afraid of the hi-glish. As a Tamilian myself it took some getting used to but my experience watching Hindi movies helped a lot. but even if you have not experienced what so ever you can still make it through and enjoy it
It's a 3.5 star for me
this was an interesting experience indeed. there was a push and pull within me as I read it because of the fact that this was the work of J. K. Rowling. there were parts of me that were expecting the same pacing as the harry potter books while trying to justify that these were not going to be them because this was her expressing a new kind of writing.
the basics withing the writing style where quite similar in a sense where there was a lot of situation setting as well as building the world of Corcoran Strike. the revelation of the main character as he navigates the world with characters that are very vivid. this was relatively slow-paced where all the clues were given to us by the different characters which involved a very long process of investigation that ended up being a good 300 hundred out of the 500 plus book page. it is not going to be the fast-paced police procedural you are used to but at the same time it is quite indicative of her style of writing
in comparing her books to other crime novels I have read I can't say that it is one of the best. it makes a decent attempt but is not worlds apart in terms of a difference in evoking the suspense of having a better twist. it is a crime novel that enjoyed but hopes no one is hyping it as better because of how much they love the author
I won't say the ending was bad. I enjoyed it and the twist was very much a good shock. but was it worth a 500-page explanation I'm not sure?
this is a really cute book while there are no real thrills or climax point at which you are worried about the relationship or the well being of the characters is has a cast of characters that are extremely funny and enjoyable. I love the cajun references as well as this fun-loving book coming off a book that was a thriller this was a wonderful fun time that was welcome
This read almost like a modernised spin of from war and peace. Having read this after war and peace there are parallels that are interesting to read
While this book has its BDSM smutty moments I do like the manner in which the characters are written in the sense that's there is a balanced dynamic in the relationship rather than in some BDSM books that depict a more subservient and unequal dynamic. he has the power in one realm and she has the power in the other. social situations are her domain where he has to listen to what she has to say more than anything else if he wants to make a good impression. but I had an issue with the ending which was rather abrupt which you felt as though there was not much of a conclusion. as though she had 5mins left and had to stop writing the exam. but overall a good book at 3 stars
I started the series on the book. this is also my first Julia Quinn. believe it or not, I have yet to even touch the brigitons out of fear of disappointment due to the hype. This story started out wonderfully with its female lead being a strong outspoken girl with a love for the country estate that we like. as many books normally go there is a certain flow that we see where there are two problems before you get to the end of the book. The first problem was the fact that the male lead was the female lead's guardian which leads to a bit of a forbidden love situation but not really seeing that she is 20 and he was 29. but my problem with the book started with the second problem written in. The situation that caused the problem was silly and while it was alright the way the conflict and resolution were written was highly unsatisfying to the point I was thinking that's it. why write it in in the first place when it's more like a filler for your last few pages. so just for that, I dropped to rating to a 3.5 other than that, not a bad story. And for those reading this just keep in mind the reason that I hate the ending so much was because I loved the beginning very much
