4.5 stars!! I was lucky enough to receive this book for the simple price of a review and I am glad to say this book did not disappoint. Slave Queen starts out right in the action with split points of view, which is a hard task to accomplish well, but this book incorporated the feat quite well. There was hardly a dull moment within the plot. Overall, a fantastic read! I would recommend to anyone!!
This was a fantastic book. I loved the characters and the development of the story. The story never lagged or had spots of “meaninglessness”. For me it just ended all too soon. I wish there was more story to it because I absolutely love the world of Mia and Omar. Based off of this book and the Slave Queen, I am on fire to finish all of this series!
2.5. I received this book for an honest review. I think this book had a lot of potential in the plot, but it moved far too slow and repeated itself over and over. I found it hard to motivate myself to continue reading this book. I also found the writing to seem like it was striving to be adult, but fell just short and ended up seeming annoying. I am not trying to tear apart this book by saying this, these are just my honest thoughts.
Where do I start? This book is so simple and short yet so deep and meaningful. I picked this book up without knowing anything about it other than it had very good ratings. So, this book follows a young boy through his views and very limited understanding of the Holocaust with his father being a highly ranking soldier. It's one of those historical stories where you know what's going to happen just from your basic knowledge of history; however, you go through the whole story trying to deny/stop the inevitable. This story is just so emotional and innocent, it's one I'll likely never forget.
4.5!! I love this series so far!! This book started out a little slow for me, but, after about the first third, I couldn't put it down. I couldn't get enough of it so I read the last 50 pages twice. However clear the plot seems to be, Maas always finds a way to twist it, which makes every reader devour page after page. All in all, not my favorite of the series but still one of my favorite books!!
I thought this book was well written with an interesting plot, but didn't make one of my favorites. The characters were intriguing, but I didn't fall in love with any of them, and a few of them remained underdeveloped through the end. While the writing was superb, the mystery side of the book was every obvious and revealed itself to me far too quickly.
I had low expectations for this book when I picked it up. I just wanted to start something short-ish and easy to read, but I was quickly impressed. I fell in love with the characters and with the plot. It seemed that so much happens in such a short amount of pages, but it didn't seem rushed or lacking in description. Also, the plot was very complex and intricate, which authors don't seem to be able accomplish well as of late, but it worked well within this story and hid a few surprises. Overall, I loved the read and can't wait to finish the trilogy!
Jaw dropping. Never in my life have I read a book with as many emotions, plot twists (which are not only completely blind to the audience and a masterpiece), and marvelous characters. Every page of this book reaches to your heart and gives a little tug somewhere.
Probably my new favorite stand alone. I loved this book from the get go. I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to finish this book (and I love my sleep). The writing is amazing with tons of relatable situations thrown in the most outrageous ideas (like alien invasions for example). I never considered myself a gamer or someone who loves alien sci-fi but this book has showed me otherwise! I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new, semi short novel!
Epically in love. This book kept me guessing the whole time and the characters well beyond spectacular. Possibly the best book I have read... Ever.
Though I had high hopes, I found this book to be terribly predictable and cliché, but the writing was ok... It tried to stretch too much at the end, and I found my self skipping lines of useless detail just to get to the point. Still an interesting read though. I think I'll finish the series just to see the outcome, but I'm not dying to continue.
Incredible!! Loved the science and was ridiculously accurate!!!! Completely thrilling and captivating. Bravo!!
