This book starts slow. At the half-way point, I wasn't sure I liked it. At three-quarters, I realized I really kinda loved it. It's beautiful in a way that breaks your heart wide open.

Although I persisted, I just couldn't find either of the protagonists sympathetic enough to want to finish this book. It just felt more boring with every new page.

Laugh-out-loud funny and heartwarming. Loved it!

I didn't shed a year until the end and then I wept. A beautiful, incredible life.

This book was LONG and sometimes tedious (lots of excerpts from correspondence) but well worth it. So much about Nazi Germany I didn't know, and Bonhoeffer himself is an inspiring character.
