I liked it enough but I also feel like nothing really happened. We could have just made this series a duology with how short book 2 is.
I picked this book up because the summary sounded so messy and I just wanted to read something fun and trashy. Imagine my surprise when I ignored the other 3 books I'm reading to binge through this. This book went down easy for me. This is the first polyamorous romance I've read and I think it was a great introduction to the trope. All three leads get their own section of the book so it felt like I got to know them all individually and the plot was certainly interesting. Solving a series of assassination attempts on the royal family? How fun!
I loved it! Ricardo and August are both a little unhinged but hilarious and they're perfect for each other. All the action scenes were also surprisingly good. I can't wait to read the other books in the series.
Considering it's marketed as a dark romance it wasn't all that toxic to be honest. Not in comparison to “Between the Devil and the Sea” at least. Nobody can be as crazy as the love interest in that novel! We've got the space mafia and crime lords with supernatural powers in this book series so it's a pretty interesting read.
2.75 stars. It had a strong start and a decent ending but the middle really got on my nerves. Jude and Dante have terrible communication skills as a couple and they both make terrible decisions all through the middle of the story. It only serves to move the plot along so as a reader you're screaming at them to not do the dumb thing they are thinking about doing. Also, nobody in this book is very smart. You're telling me a demon hunter and a literal priest don't know one of the most powerful demons in hell by name alone? Things also started to get too easy for them both. Every time a new conflict with the demons arose they managed to easily get out of it because someone decided they had it in them to go super power mode. It was an okay read but I wanted more demon hunting and more struggle.
3.75 stars. I love a possessive love interest so Silver and his unhinged plans were really doing it for me. Nuri was painfully dense about the emperor's feelings but Silver was being a bit unclear with his intentions towards Nuri at the beginning so I can forgive that.
I couldn't rate this anything other than 5 stars! I was drawn in from start to finish. It's got found family, vampires and other paranormals, bisexuality, horror, romance, mystery! And it's so well paced that I was never bored. Can't wait for the group's next adventure.
This book was a roller coaster ride! There were several moving parts, you didn't know who to trust, the bodies kept stacking up, and things between Graeme and Cassius were spicy! It had dark academia, witchcraft, demon attacks, murder, mystery, and true love. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
4/5 stars! I can't say I would recommend this book to just anyone because it is DARK but I'm clearly trash because I enjoyed it. The author goes places here and Apollo truly does some manipulative, diabolical, fucked up things to Shadow and other people throughout the story so do not ignore the content warnings. I originally picked up this book because of the pretty cover art and I'm glad I did. Minus 1 star because there were many grammatical errors and spelling mistakes peppered throughout the book. I think this needed one more edit to clean up the writing and streamline some of the scenes.
It was everything that I wanted! Because I was not going to rest until I saw Clay get his HEA. The fact that this was a mafia romance was also a great touch because I eat that stuff up.
I'm feeling 3.75 stars. I enjoyed it for the most part but not nearly as much I've enjoyed other books by Feener in this universe. And it didn't even come close to how much I loved Between the Devil and the Sea. I feel like the things Apollo did were way worse than anything Kai did so the entire time I couldn't really care too much that Gael had been manipulated. The plot did start to really drag after about the 60% mark but it ended on a good note.
My very quick thoughts because I NEED to go start the novella right now. This book being focused on Seth and Kade was a misstep. Clay was the real star of the show. I loved him, I felt for him, I wanted him to be happy and both Seth and Kade did my boy Clay dirty this whole book. Kade was dumb and thought Clay betrayed him instead of just asking him what went down. Seth basically forced Clay to watch someone he loved fall in love with him so that must've hurt. He sacrificed everything for those two and I don't even like them together. Seth was a total spineless, annoying, damsel in distress. Kade was a typical obsessive serial killer. Normally I would be eating up a story like this but, if you look through my book highlights, I spend the entire story wishing we could focus on Clay. Kade and Clay had palpable tension and I felt their love. I also felt Jayce and Seth's love at the beginning. Seth and Kade being paired for this book was a mistake.
I'm in love with Fox and I'm happy we got a story that follows him and his crew and their adventure. Like Feener's other I.P.F focused books, the start is a little slow and information dense but once the plot gets going I always end up having a great time.
I finished it in a little over a day so I think it's safe to say I enjoyed it. It was exactly what I wanted in a sports rivals to lovers story.
It gets -1/2 a star for dumb miscommunication trope in the third act. And another -1/2 star for being slightly too long. It's a very cute story. No major complaints but there's a lot of hockey terminology and slang that I just did not understand.
I loved every single second of this book. No notes. It was everything I wanted from the final installment in a series. There was drama, steam, intensity, heartbreak, heartwarming moments, mysteries were solved, and a HEA. I want the author to write a novella where we can see more of Angel and Francis after their HEA because I cannot get enough of them together!
Very quick and enjoyable start to a series. Although I think books 1&2 could've been combined into one story since to streamline Raul and Eddie's story before moving onto other characters.
I cannot express in words how much I love these two men. As individuals and as a couple. Angel: dangerous, sexy, passionate, traumatized but still ready to fight for innocent people, ready to burn it all down to keep Francis safe. Francis: boy next door sweet, righteous, strong willed, willing to burn it all down to save Angel. I'm so upset that I have to wait until March for the final book. I didn't realize the series wasn't completed yet
Considering “neck snapping” was one of the trigger warnings in this book I thought it would be more violent. I could've used more neck snapping to be honest. The plot synopsis I originally read described this as some kind of bloody revenge story, but it ended up being a pretty sweet little love story about a vampire and a demon that basically go on a road trip. I had a good time with it, but I was anticipating more horror. The world building and backstory to how our vampire got into Hell in the first place was also really glossed over.
Meh, I enjoyed it enough. The first part of the novel is really focused on gay panic and that was entertaining. Then the second portion of the story was focused on Simon keeping secrets, having sex, and mild misunderstandings so I enjoyed it less. The ending was cute and satisfying though. 3 stars.
I was in the trenches reading this one. Fighting for my life! I was not having a good time but it wasn't long so I decided to finish it. It's poorly written, was too descriptive with the spicy scenes for my tastes, there was blood play, and exhibitionism. Not to mention I found the insta lust/ love uninteresting. When they started using blood as lube I mentally checked out. These two where dating literally two days and all of a sudden we're licking blood each other and using it as lube? Excuse me sirs!!? Do y'all even know anything substantial about each other because it's not looking like it. Would not recommend. There are better written dark romances out there.
