interesting concept, and a good start. there are a few spots were it needs a bit of editing
Interesting premise
A good detective narrative in an interesting near future world. Explores some of the implications and leaves it open for more with a few hints about things today
Continues the story of the Painted/Warded man from the interesting perspective of the “villains” in the earlier books. The perspective change gives depth the the characters and their actions allowing them to be more then cookie cutter “baddies” and sometimes throws up the question of how “bad” are they. The focus later switches back to the previous leads an continues the story, several time I found myself wanting it to hurry back to a particulate narrator for more of their arc.
Great read, continue in the same vein as the original, and if you didn't know by not this is something of an epic saga so settle in for the long hall with this series.
A well written conclusion to the trilogy, very unclear how it will be resolved, then a very literal deus ex machine conclusion. a little more discussion of the alternatives
Amazing, and introduction to a fascinating series, the interweaving stories starting 30 years before the present and even touching before they start to converge. The scene setting is descriptive and character introductions give the impression that Hamilton hadn't decided who would die when he wrote them giving a good ‘Anyone Can Die' feel initially though later on some characters are obviously not expendable (yet). The only downside is a few just-in-time/just-to-late coincidences, and these look to be expanded further later
While the enemies could (crudely) be described as “fast zombies with superpowers” initially it doesn't stay that simple, and will be the crux of the series
Interesting premise and unusual second person (yes as in “I saw you first when you arrived in ..”) the Gods of this world beg to be explored more - I hope the will be more books in this setting.
Fantastic
While the focus is inevitably on the Dragons, they are an important part of the overall works described without being the only thing,
Thoughtful and fascinating, an exciting new universe with very different concepts, and a brilliantly written story set in it. The only criticism I can level is that the end is a little to clean a setup for the series but then I can't wait to read them...
Strange fantastic and fun
Faries share their knowledge of magic, but it isn't simple or straight forward. Then the are the boys, so many new ones on my to read list now.
An enjoyable read and a nice conclusion to the (second) trilogy. However it felt a bit rushed and almost too neat at the end with a lack of twist and an essentially the ending you cold (largely) predict by midway through the first book.
