This is my first read by A.L. Jackson and she did not disappoint.
This is the first book in the series, and it follows Charleigh Lowe and her life after she ran away from her abusive husband, after she lost the most important people in her life in a tragic car accident. For five years Charleigh had been alone in the grief of her parents, her newborn child, and her cousin who was eager to help her escape from the claws of a rich, powerful, and manipulative man.
River is a tattoo artist and in his spare time he along with his brothers (not blood but might as well be) find women and children in abusive situations and helps them escape and start a new life, and he does whatever he needs to do to make sure that theyโre safe, whatever means necessary.
I loved everything about this book. The suspense, the hot pierced MMC, the found family, and the adorable child, if you read this and did not love Nolan then we cannot be friends. The plot twist was totally unexpected, but it was a very nice surprise. This reminds me a little bit of the movie Safe Haven (a great movie, I recommend watching it). The ending was everything and the bonus scene that we get through the link at the end of the e-book makes everything so much better. If the first book was this good, I canโt wait to get into Ravenโs book.
