Gosh, what a lovely book. I imagine this is one that will be even better the second time through. The narrator of the audio book was wonderful.
Was hooked the whole way through the book. Could not put it down but I'm feeling a little let down by the ending. Can't put my finger on it. Still, great book.
Wow. An incredible read, but also provoked so much consideration around what it means to decide for yourself. A kind commentary in the face of ruthless bigotry.
My favorite book in a while. Hard to describe. More interesting and engaging than most fiction I've read. Hard to believe some of the things. Made me think critically about what I want for my own life in relation to a person that has accomplished so much but is nothing like the person I would want to be regarded as. Is the trade worth it?
I'm so torn. The book is a good story and well written but it didn't strike a chord with me. The characters feel authentic and the pace is good, but again it just wasn't my type of story. For instance, a story about the cost of fame told in La La Land felt much more impactful to me.
The book is really impressive with lots of timeless and practical advice for running a team. I appreciated the unapologetic approach to management practices and it cut straight to the point. Couldn't believe this was written in ‘95. It's every bit as relevant and helpful in modern tech companies almost 30 years later.
A smart, fun, page turner. Finished it in two days because I couldn't put it down. Not too long and not too short. A lovely read.
It's true young adult fiction but I found I couldn't get into it. I think primarily because of the age of the characters. The main characters are 15 years old but behave and speak as if they're in their mid 30s.
I think I'm not the target audience for this book. I enjoyed the character evolution and the dialogue with some of the more challenging relationships (especially with the husband Harris) but I generally felt like characters weren't relatable or believable. The banter is hilarious at times.
Just average to me. I enjoyed it, and the writing was good and I'm looking forward to more content from the author but this book was ok to me.
Well written and emotionally engaging, but not my taste. It's sad and honest and well paced and does a great job portraying the more bittersweet aspects of being a human.

I had high hopes for this book and although I learned a few things, generally it felt like a lot of fabricated stories to substantiate a predefined communication strategy. I like the portion of “helped, hugged, or heard” but how it relates to the different types of conversations seemed brittle. A person that wants helped doesn't necessarily want to have a “what are we talking about” conversation. They want helped. It felt like so much substantiation through story and hardly any pragmatic tactics.
A wonderful political commentary that had a sly way of challenging familiar cultural norms in ways that felt new to me. I enjoyed it, but was a little slow for my taste.
