Enjoyed this a lot, I'm not sure I would've if I hadn't listened to the podcast - it's very random!
I love these books! Following on from Princesses and Dinosaurs (we haven't read Pirates yet!) another great instalment from Mike Brownlow. Instant love from Ivy.
Loved this! A lovely story, and a great way to introduce France (Paris), a small amount of french language, and art.
Mehhhhh. 75% Boring, 25% good. I'm enjoying the books less and less as I go through the series. Tempted to stop, but might persevere.
A 3.5/5 book. It was good, but tempo was odd in places, and I struggled to follow some of her decisions. But also love having such a strong female character in a world led by men. A historical character I knew nothing about too.
I think my brain is exploding.
Oh my days. What a fantastic ending. Could. Not. Put. Down.
4.5 stars
A really great ending to the series. There was a whole lot going on, and some really interesting twists, turns and events! Lost half a star for me because of the Megan/David romance, was just a bit too cringe for me.
A fun story, well illustrated. Characters are written without much substance, but nice to see a story based mainly around female characters, some strong some weak.
I enjoyed reading Dark Eden but it wasn't amazing. I enjoyed the way in which it was written, from different perspectives, and the language style was easy to get used to. A coming of age story, with some obvious religious undertones, indicated by the title. It's a well written story, and I did enjoy it.
I would definitely recommend for a quick, easy read.
I fall out of the “ideal” age bracket for this book, however there was still loads for me to read and consider. As well as the fact I am bringing up children, it helps me think of the way the world can influence them too. To be aware is to be able to make change.
Essential reading tbh.
Just brilliant. It feels amazing to erase the tag “prostitute victims of Jack the Ripper” and replace it with their true identities. They were people with histories and they have been given back to them. Thank you to the author for doing these women such a service.
Highly recommend reading.
A really great book, my 5 yr old was very engaged, expressing displeasure at things she thought were wrong. When it finished she immediately asked me to re-read it.
First read to Ivy 16/06/2016
A story about child being considerate when a brother or sister comes along. Perhaps a little pre-emptive at the moment haha.
This was a really nicely illustrated, accessible edition of this tale, which i've read aloud with my just turned 6yo daughter. It provided the opportunity for lots of conversaitons, and she was enthralled by it.
Holy shiiiiiiit.
Well that was a ride, wasn't it?
It made me flinch, made my stomach turn, my heart beat faster, made me shut my eyes, made me ache in pain and hurt...
amazing writing, great twists, a rollercoaster. I'll be cracking on with Morning Star now, I can't not know what's going to happen.
I saw the film before I read the book. All I can really say besides the five stars I've given, is that they perfectly compliment eachother! Highly recommend giving this a read, marvellously written.
