Another great instalment. Full of twists, turns, unexpected scenes and great storytelling!
A thoroughly excellent book. But “scary” in a way I've never experienced before. Scarily believable maybe? Harrowing for sure. I found myself debating whether this could have been a true story... In our society, perhaps. Yet at times it felt like it went too far, but not to it's detriment, it makes you think. To confront the rarely considered “bad” side of parenting, and of marriage. It considers the “what if's”. How would anyone react with the same child, how would you feel being the husband or the wife in that marriage? I'm not married, and I'm not a parent, but this book still made sense to me, it made me think. I'm no pro at writing reviews and this is more of a stream of consciousness than a carefully thought out review, but this book was heart breaking and I thoroughly recommend it.
I've read a few of the negative reviews regarding this book, and I guess each is entitled to their own opinion. But, have you ever read a book like this? With this writing style? Again it might be a taste thing, but I thoroughly enjoyed the writing style, a real change from books I usually read. I enjoy being made to FEEL when I read books, and the author really accomplishes this... You cant help but detest Kevin, feel sympathy, irritation, anger (among many other emotions) for Eva, and a whole host of other thoughts feelings and emotions throughout. That, to me, is the sign of a talented writer.

An unusual, hilarious counting book including many hippos. Love it!
3.5 Stars I think!
I now feel that I am in possession of all the info I need for dealing with any stage of a Zombie attach... wonderful!
Amazing artwork, and an interesting story! Definitely worth a read if you're into comics!
I didn't really enjoy this book at all. The pace was all over the place, the story itself was unbelievable in the extreme, and although I know you aren't meant to like the main character, I didn't even feel that he was well written. The ending was... weird, and not really in keeping with the rest of the story, and a bit of an anti-climax.
I'm just generally disappointed! I've seen there are so many good reviews... did I miss something key?? I think I must have.
It gets two stars as I apparently liked it enough to keep reading.
December 2020: It's been 7 years since I read this book. And although putting a review here, it was actually the audiobook i've just finished. Thats 17days, 11hrs, 30mins of listening time to listen to the whole series. I started in summer 2018. I've finished in December 2020. I loved it. Absolutely loved it. But what a wrench to finish it up. To put that world to bed and leave it. I could easily read and read and read story after story set in that world, with those character, it feels like home. Having got to the end of the series for the second time (though i've read to various points in the series multiple times over the years) feels momentous, i feel like i understood so much more, and picked up on so much more. I can't wait to feel ready to pick it all up again in the future.
September 2013: What an ask. To bring an end to a 14 book series. To tie off all the ends, and make it as climatic as it needed to be. To have that responsibility not even as the original author.
Sanderson did it. I can't say I'm happy it ended, it's the kind of world you wish could go on forever but Sanderson has managed to use Jordan's ideas and bring about an absolutely superb end to the book. Kudos!
A very good book indeed! Will definitely be doing a bit more research to make sure that I understand it more though!
I thought this book was “ok”, it was easy to read, and had a nice plot, but I don't feel that it gave anything that was particularly special. I probably wouldn't read it again, and would recommend if you haven't got much else to read and want something quick to read.
The first in the Asterix series... I haven't read this since I was a kid, and it still makes me giggle!
Another gorgeously illustrated book from Shaun Tan. The detail really is stunning, and so beautifully odd.
A strange little tale, but definitely worth a read.
Can't really rate this accurately without giving spoilers. I did like it, but I didnt enjoy the last third of the book.
Great story, love Rincewind as a character.
Loved the first 2/3s but didn't enjoy it quite as much toward the end!
During the first 1/4 I thought it was going to be a DNF something I'd never thought I'd say about a Sanderson. But soooooo glad I persevered - epic epic epic conclusion to Era 2.
Very well written and obviously a classic, can't fault that. Just didn't quite do it for me.
Beautifully packaged, light on content, but some nice tidbits.
Would've been peeved had I paid £13 for it. £6 still felt a bit much.
Totally not what I expected. A gritty and dark story, not something that could be consumed quickly. I really enjoyed it.
I picked up this book because I loved the film, as I'm sure many people have. It's quite different to the film, but It's wonderful. I love the characters and although a bit ‘wtf' at places, it's such an interesting and spellbinding story! I'd highly recommend it :)
