Nona was a fantastic book in the series of the locked tomb, I really thought that wouldn't enjoy Nona especially with how EXCELENT Harrow was but I was mistaken. Nona was an incredible protagonist extremely lovable and a stark difference to the world around her. However my favorite piece of this book was (as always) Cam and Sex-Pal. Name a better duo, oh wait you can't because they're perfect and I can't wait to learn more about their new situation!
Also the parts with John were fantastic and actually super interesting, I love Jod's character and learning about their background was incredible. All in all I really enjoyed Nona but im even more excited for Alecto whenever it comes out.
Absolutely outstanding book, great insights into characters who have been delightful side characters up until now. Love Nesta's growth throughout the whole book as well as Cassian just in general.
This book was most certainly setup for the coming books so I'm excited to see where things go from here! It was most certainly slower than the other books in the series so far, but made up for it with interesting character moments and side character introductions.
Truly excellent book, picked it up after watching through Shadow and Bone and I could not be more excited to read the next one.
No mourners.
Fantastic book, I read this right after the Shadow and Bone Trillogy having started with the 6 of Crows duology. This was a return to what made 6 of Crows so great, back to 3rd person (THANK GOD) and multiple different perspectives with intricate backstories and clever political intrigue. Altogether fantastic book, can't wait for Rule of Wolves.
This book is truly one of the most beautiful pieces of fiction that i've read to date. While the premise of the story is not completely revolutionary Girl makes a deal with the devil and gains immortality it's the way the story is written that is truly captivating. V.E. Schwab is such a descriptive author, every sentence and every scene description is like eating a perfect little taco of metaphor that somehow perfectly describes the situation or adds the perfect amount of emphasis needed to make the scene dramatic and suspenseful. The only reason why I won't read this book again is because it won't live up to the same outstanding experience of reading it for the first time. Absolutely amazing. Will recommend to anyone who might be remotely interested.
Hey remember when I said Brandon Sanderson couldn't do better after reading words of radiance? He did it with this book. Specifically the last few chapters were just freaking incredible. #DalinarIsBae Can't wait to see what Sanderson does with Rhythm of War.
Excelent edition to my runthrough of the black library books! The World Eaters were my first 40k army and I've loved them ever since I played them on the tabletop. It was devastating getting the background on Angron hearing all about his terrible childhood on his home planet. Also the bromance between Kharn and Argel Tal gave me so much life, Rest in peace Argel Tal! I think Kharn has cemented himself as my favorite named marine so far in the Heresy! Excited to keep reading and experiencing the rest of the story!
Of all the Stormlight Archive books I think this one felt the most in-tune with its main characters. The progression of the main players Kaladin, Shallan, Navani, Dalinar was absolutely fantastic. But along with some EXCELENT character progression we got so much more information about the world. The last 10% of this book was BONKERS, so many delicious tidbits that makes me super excited for the next edition of the stormlight archive. All in all excellent book in a masterful series.
This was a very good and entertaining book. The plot twist at the end honestly made the entire thing very worth it. All in all great read.
I really enjoyed this addition to the Dresden Files! It's been a truly entertaining series so far. This book also seems to have started a central conflict that will be the focal point for the plots of the upcoming books in the series involving the Red Court and all vampires therein. Harry's back and now he's got a bunch of friends! I loved Michael, I hope to see him more and more throughout the other books.
My only criticism would be that this one felt less like a mystery and noir novel and more like an action flick which was fine in the progression of the story (which I loved) but I will say that I missed that singular encapsulated story vibe of the last two books. Excited to move on to the next one!
A compelling second book!
This was a very compelling second book in the series, I certainly liked the mystery this time better than storm-front and the characters had many more moments to shine. I hope this trajectory continues into the 3rd book.
After Reading the way of kings I thought to myself, “How could Brandon Sanderson do better than that”... he did.
Easily one of the best fantasy books I've read in a long time. I seriously can't wait for the next book in the series. Great characters combined with a killer world and tense story made this a book I didn't want to ever put down. Also I have to give credit to the voice actor for this book who did an amazing job distinguishing the characters and adding emotion and emphasis to tense scenes. Can't wait to recommend this book to others!
Truly one of the finest pieces of fiction that i've ever had the pleasure of reading. Brandon Sanderson is a world building genius. I blasted through the first 3 books of this series to get ready for rhythm of war and I can't wait to read it.
This story is absolutely an experience that I would highly suggest to anyone who enjoys Myths and old stories. The best way I could describe this book is an old lesser known myth come to life in one of the most tremendous formats I've ever seen in a book. The POV being told as a play to the main character watching the story take place in front of your eyes is SUCH an interesting component to the story. I wish that I had read the book and not listened to it (To no fault of the voice actor he does a phenomenal job with all voices and perspectives, I was rarely confused the time). In any case I would highly recommend this book to anyone, it was truly unique and an outstanding story, although it did have its slow points the last half of the book and the POV / format was well worth the experience.
I had a really good time with this book. There were definitely some slow sections however overall I really enjoyed it!
The Blade itself is one of those books that you simply can't put down regardless of if you want too or not. I thuroughly enjoyed every second I had with this book and it's incredible story. The biggest highlight for me though was the characters, RARELY have I ever come across a more diverse, interesting and funny cast of characters who grew on me like these did. My best Inquisitor boy, Logan 9-Fingers, even the shitty pretty boy character grew on me! That rarely happens!!
Again would recommend this book highly to anyone interested in a dark fantasy with loveable characters and a very interesting story. Can't wait to read the other two books in the series!
Not my favorite addition to the Grisha saga. After working my way through Six of Crows and Crooked & Crooked Kingdom I thought that the first book of the shadow and bone trilogy would be up to par with the characterization and charm that the Crows duology had. Turns out I was mistaken, Alina and Mel are a terrible couple, there are scenes where I want to pull my hair out listening to them speak to each other. Hopefully Siege and Storm pulls through.
Absolutely outstanding, even compared to King of Scars. Definitely a highlight for Bardugo and for the Grisha saga. A fantastic conclusion to the duology and a great conversion point for the rest of Bardugo's books, can't wait to see what's next!
I made the mistake of watching the movie first before reading the book which was altogether a much better and enjoyable experience. The book is wordy and dry at times however it also explains a great deal about the universe of Dune which was an exciting addition to the world and answered some questions I had after watching the movies. All in all it was “fine” but certainly not my favorite.
Truly outstanding conclusion to the duology. The Characters and their progression were truly fantastic. My only complaint is that this isn't a trilogy.
