Finally seeing some of Dalziel's personal side unfortunately with very little Pascoe in the mix. I found the numerous characters a bit confusing but I was reading multiple books at the same time so I can't put it all on the book. Overall I'm enjoying the series and look forward to further developments.

Nice historical mystery written in a hard boiled noir style. The plot is fairly well conceived but the ending was wrapped up a bit too simply. No real mystery regarding the killer but that's not what I was looking for with this one.[return][return]This had the feeling of a book one in a series. There is certainly the potential for more especially with the tie in to Key West as a historical mystery setting.

I have read the Cork O Connor series in chronological order over the last several years and by extension, have watched his family grow and develop. The previous book, Vermillion Drift was missing something and until reading this book, I wasn t sure what it was. Krueger once again relies heavily on the family aspect and we see Cork s kids as young adults. Rose and her husband Mal are also present. Vermillion Drift with the absence of family now works better for me in hind sight as a transitional work following Cork s arc into his middle 50s and preparing (possibly) to move on after his wife s death. Northwest Angle describes the beautiful country of the Lake of the Woods very well as well as the freak storm conditions that actually passed through the area several years ago. Excellent fast read that makes me want more.

While well written, I found this book to be less enjoyable to read than A Test of Wills. The characters' relationships were just confusing enough to make for slow reading for me. I look forward to reading the 3rd book in the series to see how Rutledge develops.

I found book two of the Body Farm series to be incredibly predictable. while I wanted to like this series, I don't think I will continue to book three. There are just too many other books out there. The main character has all the traits to be likable but something is missing for me.
