I would say that I enjoyed this book more than the first book and say everyone should have a read of this.
Mark Manson puts intricate thoughts about how we rationalise each thought or idea into every day language, pulling you along for the ride with not only his thoughts but the thoughts of others throughout history.
There are those book that you get to the end of and think oh no, there are no more words. This is one of those series. Crooked Kingdom left me wanting another adventure from the cast of characters. The mix of magic and sleight of hand made for an intriguing read, but it was the colorful characters that sold the plot. You wanted nothing more than to learn each of their intricacies even with each twist of their storyline.
I could see myself re-reading this again only to catch things I didn't see on the first read-through.
I was in a book shop and picked up this book on a whim with a few others and am I happy I did. This is one of those books that I could not put down. The world-building and the backstory is something that has always drawn me into a good fantasy book, and this is one of those times where I wish it were a little longer. N K Jemison creates a mythology that you want to know more about, and learning each little tidbit confuses you but drags you in to want to figure out more about it. Did I think this was the best world building story I have ever read, no, but it kept me wanting to come back to read it and that in itself makes it a book I know I really enjoyed.
The Night Circus was one of those books that the first few chapters I was confused with going back and forth between the different time jumps. However, I persevered because the writing was fantastic, and I knew there was something magical about what was going to happen. It did not disappoint.
Celia and Marco are dynamic personalities, and throughout the book, you can't decide who to cheer for the loudest. The twins you want to find out what the secret is behind them, and every other character you can't wait to find how they intertwine with the story.
Keep reading past the first few chapters, and you find a story that is exhilarating and mystifying as the magic and illusions the characters themselves showcase at the Night Circus.
