I’m not sure what I expected going into this however I found it a good read. Like the “Happily ever after” of a good D&D campaign.
After a lot of recommendations to read Alice Feeney my wife finally just told me I had to read this book, that it fit my style of book perfectly. Wow was she right. This was such a fun read with a constant questioning of the narrator’s reliability as their world is slowly revealed to the reader.
Rife with bad tropes and cliché characters made a promising premise my first dnf of 2025.
The story is good but kind of hits a weird bump of meh right before the end. If you get past that it ends well enough. I’m sure people won’t like that everything isn’t wrapped up with a pretty bow but it leaves just enough detail out to allow the reader agency in thought.
