THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD! I'm actually slightly upset it's over since this is Kelsey's only book. It was so well written with great twists and turns that kept me guessing. The imagery she used was not at all what I was expecting from a debut novel. MORE!!!
Despite really disappointing Part 3, I still have to give this book a 5 star. READ IT! READ IT!
Goodreads really needs a .5 option. I'd give this a 3.5. Cute book, but a little lacking
I'm on the fence with this one. The climax was, well, anti-climatic, and the ending was out of character for the main character.
I'm struggling between reading this a two or a three star. It wasn't a bad book, and I like the forbidden romance that it had going on, but I just am not a fan of sex scenes in my books unless they are progressing the plot. Otherwise I just find them a bit of a waste of time and a little boring. There aren't a ton in Birthday Girl, but enough that I was skipping segments. I really am just not a romance girl, I've said it a million times and I'll say it again
Raw and honest but a big predictable. I wanted this story to be a bit more fleshed out, but other than that it's solid for young adult.
Wow, wow, wow. This book was so cute, witty, and fantastic! I can't believe I learned it existed only a few days ago; it should be a must read for everybody young and old. Love, love, love.
2.5~3 stars
I have to take off a whole star for the last few chapters of this book. Once the mystery is solved Christina seemed to forget how to write and kept harping on like this was a therapy book.
I almost didn't finish because there were some MAJOR eating disorder triggers, but I'm glad that I pushed through because it was well worth the uncomfortable moments. (I skipped through the eating disorder bits for my own mental health.)
This book has so many twists and turns that I genuinely did not see coming. I don't know if I was just off my game because of the triggers, if I was in a weird funk, or if she is genuinely that good of a writer.
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME.
What a waste of time, jfc. I'm actually angry about this “twist”. I have loved every single other book by Kubica, but this one infuriated me. Don't even bother picking it up unless you want to completely waste your time.
This writing style is far from my favorite. Every single line of dialogue is the same (Eric says, Andrew says, she says). It was hard to get through and then left us on a cliff hanger.
Fucking hell, I can't do it anymore. This book is terrible, absolutely terrible and I cannot finish. The author is all over the place with where they want to go and the story doesn't FOCUS. If it was only about Angelea I'd be more interested, but Terry has to jump to other side stories and I'm bored.
He repeats himself CONSTANTLY. We do not have the memory span of a guppy, I promise you don't have to say the same thing 400 times. This book reads like a high school student trying to bulk up an essay with more words to meet the minimum.
THIS BOOK IS WONDERFUL. I am not into political commentary in most cases, but this was so over-the-top yet realistic that it hit perfectly. I loved all of the references and puns.
This was almost a 5 star, but a few things about it held me back (primarily with one of the characters). This book hits the ground running and does NOT STOP. If you want a great paced thriller, this is it.
God, this series is grating. The first book was okay, but now I'm getting fed up with every single character. Going to power through #3, but I'm hate-reading by now.
